As I said earlier, I'm not a huge Soriano fan. I will say however that he fully knew and ACCEPTED the role he has now when he signed his contract. That said, Ive never heard ANY word on his being a malcontent, bored, unhappy, trouble maker in the clubhouse etc except here on these boards. I never seen him out of uniform and don't know if he smiles or not when he is not in pinstripes. He didn't smile before he came to the Yanks either. IMO if we can trade him, w/o eating any of his contract for something that we NEED to help the team, the Yanks would suffer from his loss. I'd hail the move. To bash the hell out him in here b/c of his on mound demeanor is senseless. He hasn't hurt us YET!

I agree, Soriano has never shown any kind of emotions, I think that's just his demeanor.. Not all people are as bubbly as Swisher, some play it pretty low keyed, others go about their work in a workmen like manner.. Soriano might just be a guy that does his thing with very little emotion..

In saying all this, I wouldn't know if the Yankees want to move him or not.. He's a valuable piece to our BP, emotions or not...  We don't know if Pineda or Andy P. are going to be any better then Hughes or Garcia, I'm hoping they will be, but until we have to cross that bridge the pieces we have are going to have to continue to do their job.. I'm sure there are several teams that would trade places with the problems we have with our pitching...

That's the thing, as we argue about who fits and who doesn't, other teams wished they had that type of problem the Yanks have. I mean, they have Pineda and Pettitte they can plug into their rotation ... Other teams are bringing up fringe players from the minors or minor leaguers who are average just for a spot start. Yanks have done a fine job building depth for this team.

I think all of us are hoping Pineda will be the pitcher in NY he was in teh first half of 2011 in Seattle.  But he is no sure thing until he shows he can do it in NY.  We also all hope Andy will be the same pitcher he was in 2010 before he hurt his groin.  But neither one is a lock

For the Giants to bite on Soriano they have to start blowing games in the 9th inning but still be close enough to contend so that could take a while.

Another thing about Soriano that annoys was that he had great control and never walked anybody before he came to the Yanks besides the very good K totals. I think coming in last night he had 5 walks in 3 innings this year and his numbers last year wern't great either. I thought he had Mo walk totals before.

The Giants cannot pin any post  season hopes on  an unproven rookie, no matter how highly thought he is .

Personally , I would love to  see Soriano leave, I'd  even pack his bag.

Bring up  Warren or Mitchell to replace him.

And they're not going to take on 2 YRS/ 27M just because you or anyone else doesn't want Soriano anymore.  As far as post-season hopes, I don't think the Giants realistically have any this season anyway in that division.

I know they won't. The Yankees would have to eat some of this year's and some of next year's contract. But  the more

they would eat , the better prospect they have the right to ask for.

The bottom line is that whether a team thinks it has a realistic shot at the playoffs and is also in need of a closer determines theirr degree of interest in Soriano.  I have absolutely no clue about SF's chances, so, if you are correct, they won't be calling about Soriano, especially if Wilson'surgery goes well.

KC also needs a closer, but with no chance to make the playoffs they won't be interested in Soriano.

The Red Sox need a closer but I thinks pigs will fly before the Yanks trade Soriano to Boston, even if the BoSox agree to pick up 100% of his salary.

I am sure there are other teams out there that need a closer, but it may well be July before they gfeel suer about their assessment of their chances at the playoffs.
