That's one way to cut your payroll.

Fan cost us a run there. Nunez would've scored on that!

Are they removing the vermon.

I dunno... But now two unproductive outs in a row? Grrrrr

Stewart should have bunted. Girardi shouldn't have listened to those SABR types who call sacrificing "giving away an out."

Stewart shouldn't even be on this team. I'll take Cervelli once or twice a week over him.

Cervelli's a bum behind the plate, but he does hit .300 with RISP.

That's a correct statement BG, but I don't think Cervelli would cost a game defensively and some of the pitchers like him behind the plate.

I don't think Stewart is the problem here though.....  He's a good catcher.

Nice catch Gardy!!  (his defensive WAR just went up!)

Cervelli does one thing pretty good behind the plate and that's block balls in the dirt.  That's why he was AJ's personal catcher.  I have nothing against the young man and actually like his enthusiasm, but he's not a good defensive catcher.  Rated 112 defensively last year out of 115.  Stewart was rated 15.  I'd rather the defense from a backup catcher.  That doesn't mean Stewart's going to be around very long though.  This was purely a roster situation because of minor league options.  Eventually Cervelli will be back in Ny, if he ever starts to hit.  He's hitting .091 right now and finally got his first extra base hit last night.  Once he starts hitting I think they'll bring him up and hope that Stewart clears waivers so he can go to AAA and be their starting catcher.  I have to believe that's their plan.

I agree.  This is on CC.  They've had only 2 quality starts so far this year.  This rotation better get their ass in gear or they're going to be in for a rough time in the next 2 weeks facing 3 of the best lineups in baseball in Boston, Texas, and Detroit.
