What the hell happened, I missed what was injured...

was not a huge gardner fan but his defense is not equalled by anyone else on the yanks.....also after watching jones semi dogged it today, makes you appreciate what gardner can do

He made a ridiculously awesome catch last night and hurt his wrist. It's his elbow though and Joe thinks it happened during the catch though the wrist hurt more at the time and the adrenaline prevented him from feeling what he felt today.

Wow, that stinks big time. The Yankees are going to miss his speed the most.

Yankees have called up P Cody Eppley.  My guess is this is a temporary move, since they'll need another outfielder eventually.  The pen outside of Mo and Robertson has been used quite a bit lately, and with Hughes and Freddy pitching the next two games an extra arm in the pen is probably a prudent temporary move for the weekend anyway.  Until another move is made, we're looking at Ibanez and Nunez (Sanchez) for now it seems.

The Yankees do not currently have any of the AAA outfielders on the 40-man roster, but that's easily accomplished by moving Joba to the 60-day DL probably.  Apparently Dewayne Wise is hitting well at AAA, and the consensus is that it could be either him or Chris Dickerson.  Too bad Maxwell isn't around now.

They'd probably call Wise or Dickerson up anyway even if they did have Maxwell. Same situation as last year, they'll go for a lefty bat. Last year Dickerson was the only lefty outfield bat they had at SWB so he got the call.  This year they have a lot of lefty outfielders at AAA.  Eppley will probably only be up for today's game.  Wise has been red hot so far.   He'd be my choice once they send Eppley back.  Eppley's pitched well so far.  He hasn't allowed a run yet in 5 appearances.  That's the way I'd do it, so it probably won't go down that way.

Yeah it should be one of those two guys.  I'd give Wise a shot too since he's hot... Why not take advantage of it, right?  So they'll probably go with Dickerson because they know what to expect with him.  Lol

Personally, I think they ought to keep the extra pitcher here through the weekend even though it means either Ibanez or Nunez in the OF.  The pen has been used a lot lately, with even Rapada and Logan throwing 45 and 50 pitches respectively last night.  There's no telling what kind of length they'll get out of Hughes and Freddy the next two nights.  Of course if they have to use the crap out of Eppley tonight, which is not outside the realm of possibility, he's probably shot for a couple of days anyway. Hopefully they don't have to do that.

They could very well decide to just keep Eppley up here for awhile and try Nunez out there if they need to.  I don't like that though.  The guy is not an outfielder.  So, that's probably what they'll do. lol

Yeah, I know what you mean with Nunez.  It's a gamble either way I guess.  Keep the extra pitcher and take your chances in the OF, or bring up Gardy's replacement and hope the starters give you some length.  OR....  Petition Bud Selig for mercy, and the first 26-man ML roster!
