Am I the only one who feels that Nunez does NOT belong in the Major leagues?

I like Nunez, I think his defense would be better if he played regularly and stayed at one position. He is supposed to be a SS, but he plays 3B ( what MLB The Show 12 shows is his position), SS, 2B, and some outfield. He is young too. He will get better the more time e plays.

NUnez

good base runner , can steal bases. Can hit pretty well with some pop.

Drawback ? Lousey fielder . He is not an infielder. Let him be a corner outfielder. This way all he has to do is catcj the ball.

And he is not likely to make as  many errors. (hopefully)

Still don't understand why the Yankee brass is so high on this  guy and why Cashman won't include him in any trades. It amazes  me that teams ask for him all the time. Why? What  are we all missing?

.

Hi Strider,  I feel that he just don't have it mentally.  He shows flashes with his bat, but he is lost on the base paths and He is horrible no matter where he plays as a fielder.  I think back to just a few years ago that the Yanks were going to LET CANO GO because he was in a funk.  Now look at him!  They are WAY to patient with Nunez!  The Farm is full of guys that can play better than him!

CAP, I guess that my impatience with him stems from the fact that when he boots it, it has immediate and disastrous impact!  He should go back down and work on the Glove & throwing.  He is fast but does not seem aware on the base paths.  Losing GARDY with the way he's hitting HURTS!  GO YANKS!  BEAT THE SOX!

Not all of us are missing the fact he's young (he'll be 25 in June), has speed, can fill in at several positions, can steal bases, and has some pop in his bat. Why do some people always look at the one negative? Granted, he's a crappy defensive infielder who with more playing time may get better. That's the only thing wrong with him compared to the positives. There are several teams out there that would love to have him on their roster as a full time player. That's why Cashman won't include him in any trades.

Most of the responses to this Post were in favor of Nunez!  Because we are all Yankee fans, I hope that you are right!  Go Yanks!  Ruin the Red Sox Weekend!

If he was playing for another team with identical stats, there would be a gaggle of threads wanting Cashman to get him. Not every player on the team can be an All Star, although Nunez may be one day.

Nunez may just be the best hitter in the Yankee lineup (yes, even better than Cano).  I agree with the other posters on here that say his defense will get (marginally) better if he is allowed to play just one position, and that position may even be an OF position.  Remember when A-Rod came over and they moved him to 3B; he looked horrible.  Now he plays near gold glove defense, except coming in on a bunt which he has never mastered.  There are some guys that can adjust to playing anywhere and I don't think Nunez is one of them.  However, I think he could provide average defense at one position and above average offense at any position.  The Yankees are short on eventual replacements for Jeter; I'm wondering if Nunez is going to be that person and is just stuck in utility man purgatory for the time being.
