Not much of a prospect. If Bowden couldn't make the Sox after all these years and with their needs in the bullpen no great loss for them

Marlon Byrd will be 35 by the end of the season, so this seems desperate.  I don't know what he's got left, or what Boston gave up, but it occurs to me that Theo knows all the players involved.  Say what you want about Cashman's depth moves, but those moves keep you from having to do things like this IMO.  The Red Sox obviously have little AAA outfield depth.

Stat we have seen Bowden pitch. He's one of the great pitching propects that Francesa said they had an abundance of a couple of years ago. He was designated for assignment. They don't have to pay hardly any of Byrd's salary. The player to be named latter is the question which I doubt is of any value.

They traded their over-hyped pitching superstar of the future for an OF who hasn't been able to hit this season. That says it all when it comes to the hype surrounding Red Sox prospects.
