I was curious to see what he had to say about the two games at Fenway. He defended Bobby, and blamed their pen which is why they lost and I agree. But no Kudos por the Yanks. I expected that, since he is a Boston Red Sox Fan.

Lupica is annoying and his voice goes right through me.  That's one reason why I switch back to WFAN until 3 PM.  Another is WHY ON EARTH DO THEY GIVE VALENTINE A SPOT ON KAY'S SHOW???????????????????????????????

I read it.

Valentine is not the cause of Boston's issues. Losing a GM, Manager and their closer, Valentine can't answer to that.

When Girardi took over, he managed us to a 3rd place finish where Torre was able to keep us in the playoffs year after year with many and more of the same issues Girardi had. It wasn't until Cashman bought him 2/3 of a pitching rotation plus that he was able to win, in spite of poor managing.

14 games in, Valentine is not the problem, but he does give Boston ownership tons of cover as they try and get their payroll lowered and fire him as the cause.

as much as you dislike girardi , no manager in baseball could have possibly gotten the yanks to the playoffs in 2008 after all those injuries that they withstood.

Same could be said tenfold for 2007. 2006. 2005. 2004.

If Cashman didn't load the team up to overcompensate for Girardi's poor managing, 2009 would not have been a title year.

no the same cant be said for those other years because torre never lost posada AND the ace of the starting rotation in the same year. so its dumb to compare 2008 with those other years .  and the yanks restocked in 09 because they  had a  few large contracts come off the books after 08 , giambi and mussina to name 2 , and also because the yanks were going to open the new yankee stadium.  oh and in 2004,5,6,and 7 ,  the yanks offense powered the team to the playoffs only to lose because of poor pitching in the end

Stop it. What are you Girardi's wife?

2007 Torre lost Mussina, Wang & Hughes, leaving him with just Pettitte and Igawa.

The team set a record for using 10 different pitchers in their first 30 games, of which 6 were rookies.

They were also under .500 for the first time since 1995 before the All Star break.

Torre did his best managing in 2007 and overall he kept us at the top even with the garbage he had, names like Brown, Vazquez, Johnson, Contreras, etc.

Girardi was horrible in 2008 and if it wasn't for the team buying him CC, AJ and Tex, we would have finsihed middle of the pack.

he didnt lose them for the whole season and i dont think he lost wang that year either . he also didnt lose jeter for part of the year and posada for the whole year . in 2008 kennedy and hughes were the rotation since cashman wanted to give both hughes and kennedy a shot in the rotation that year and hughes got hurt in 08 as well.  i am not  saying girardi is a very good manager but to say torre would have gotten the 08 team to the playoffs is just foolish .
