Pineda Surgery

Mariano had Tommy John surgery early on in his career, but then again how many pitchers end up being as great as Mariano? It's dumb to try and say Pineda will come back to be great or terrible at this point because there's no way to know.

Let's try to see who can go the next 12 months without saying Pineda.

I know most will not believe this, but my neighbor/friend works for the Yankees and she said that the MRI showed some sort of damage to Pineda's shoulder and will mostly require surgery or prolonged rest/therapy.

The news will be out soon, so if you doubt what I wrote, just wait and see.

Sorry guys, but Pineda will never be the same.  He still might have a career, but expect 91-93mph if he's lucky

You were right congrats on the info. Any other news or signings in the future don't hesitate to post. Smile

Torn Labrum is no joke.

That's the truth.  How many pitchers tear their labrum and never come back the same?  About 100% is my guess.

Yes just showed a stat that both Al Leiter and Curt Shilling among serveral others had the same surgery early in their career and came back fine
So your guess would be 100% wrong

Did they "come back fine" or did they "come back the same"? 100% right. Thanks for playing, buy a tshirt on your way out.

LOL... nice try idiot. Several top pitchers have come back as good as they were before from this surgery as they discussed earlier on the YES broadcast tonight. Leiter said he was throwing 97 the year after the surgery. But go ahead and keep trying to convince people you know what you are talking about.. I will just keep laughing.

And there is also a list of pitchers that were never the same so it goes both ways.

Of course there are, probably a lot more that don't recover well. But that wasn't the point of my post. It's bad injury and he may never come back from it or be severly diminished, but to say that he will definitely be at 91-93 or 100% of players are never the same is incorrect. No one knows what will happen so making predictions like that is just dumb.

It might be misguided but does anyone have faith in the Yankees actually rehabbing him properly. This is the same team that botched Wang's rehab.

Actually if you want to be technical, Mariano didnt have "Tommy John" surgery b/c he didnt have the ligament grafted to replace the one thats typically the "signature" of the surgery. That aside, your point that others have made it back from major surgery is on target and yes, its too early to make a call re:Pineda.

It seems the Yankee method of rehabbing a pitcher is rush, pause, rush, wait, over-do it, sit, rush, stop, swim with great white sharks....
