Are you a dr? You know how he will recover.  Maybe you can inject him with some of your steroids.

Of course not!  But specualting on the severity of an injury and/or outcome is a pretty common thing to do on a fan board.  You can do rudimentary research just on the Internet and see the prognosis is not good.  Yes, he may bounce back.  Strictly from an odds standpoint, however, it does not bode well.  (And if by the "steroid" comment you are talking about my profile picture and implying that it looks like I take steroids, that is the BEST compliment I have recieved all year!  Thanks!)

The kid is 23 so you never know how he will heal. This might force the yanks to go after Cole Hammels during the winter.  Sometimes you have to roast when people get all doom and gloom.  If the juice worked for his yes network picture it might work for Pindea.

How can this trade be allowed to stand?  I mean, of course it will, but, geez, seems pretty obvious case of damaged goods.  Caveat emptor, indeed!

There is no evidence of damaged goods. The Yanks gave him the customary pre-trade physical, and that included a normal MRI. Everything came back normal.

There is a reason Seattle let a 25 year old "promising" starter go. You don't just give those guys up when you are trying to rebuild a team.

Yes, and the reasons were:

1) The desperately needed a young hitter like Montero.

2) They have 3 other pitching prospects coming along in the next year or two as good or better than Pineda.

3) They didn't expect to contend any time soon in the AL West, so they could afford to wait for those pitching prospects.

And Pineda is 23, not 25. It would've been better had he been 25.

It's a probablity game.  Might he be fine?  Sure.  I'm just saying the odds aren't in his favor.  This isn't a reactionary "the sky is falling" response.  Just fact. This injury often seriously hampers careers.  No one has a crystal ball.  Though doctors are saying it's a new injury, I have a hard time believing that, or that Jack Z. didn't know about this, which adds insult to injury.  I don't see why you're getting all riled up.  Pretty much fans are going to commenting on this for days.  It's nothing personal.  I'm glad you are optimistic for the future (and as Yankee fans we should be).  I'd like to see Hammels in pinstripes, regardless.  I hope I'm proven wrong and Pineda comes back, throwing heat.  I'd be thrilled to be wrong, believe.  No way around it, though; this is not good news.

Did you really have to make a post telling me that when someone already pointed out the same thing 2 posts up?

I had a hunch it was going to be bad. What I am wondering is did he have the injury when he was traded and no one checked him up thoroughly or did it happen in Spring Training? Bottom line, we are minus a starter so either Hughes or Garcia will take Pineda`s place because Andy will be here soon. The question is who? So far neither one is my choice.
