What happened in the 1st inning. Jeter got a hit? I just turned on S&W.... did Washington get thrown out of the game?

Jeter got a hit and stole second, replays showed he was out. Washington came out to protect Kinsler who was griping. Grandy and A Rod struck out and Cano grounded out weakly.
