Delmon has been trouble since his days in the Minor Leagues. His best friend while in the Minors and with the Rays was BJ Upton and when both of them were playing in the Minor Leagues they complained about the way things are done in the Minor Leagues compared to the MLB. He said they were drinking dirty water while Major Leagues were drinking bottled water and something else about the hotels they stayed while on the road. He was arrested while he was playing for the Rays for domestic violence because he punched his then wife who was much older than him. Having Delmon and Upton in the same team created all kinds of trouble for the Rays. Finally they got rid of him. I wonder if MLB will suspend him. They ought to give him a stiff fine for what he did, but if it is a hate crime, they ought to keep him locked up!
you sure that was BJ? wasn't there some other thug that used to be in the Rays system? I heard BJ comes from a great family, I saw a piece on him, his brother and his dad not too long ago - seemed like great kids and a great dad...
Nooke Logan maybe?
no - I'm thinking about someone else... always was in trouble for something, had like 7 kids and he wasn't even 25... I think he went to the NL...
I don't think it was someone else, but I won´t argue with you because you could be right. Upton was in trouble maybe last year or the year before he had an altercation with Longoria because he pulled a Reggie Jackson type of play in the Outfield and Longoria said something about his nonchalant approach and they had to be separated because Upton went after him. He has had other problems. For the right price the Rays will trade Upton. Young and BJ were very good friends.
I am sure everyone remembers the famous altercation that almost came to blows between Reggie and Billy Martin, who will always be my favorite Manager. Billy pulled Reggie out of a national televised game at Fenway because he felt Reggie was loafing in the outfield. I think there was another time when Billy ordered Reggie to bunt, and Reggie did not do what he was told and he hit a Homer. I think he also pulled Reggie out of a game for disobeying him, but I am not sure. What about Ed Whitson and Billy remember those two? That Billy was something else!
