I heard that the couple that caught the ball is demanding an apology from the Yanks. I guess because  of what Kay said. I am thinking this would have been no news, but since Kay works for the Yanks, and made a comment, now it has gone Viral.

They'd have to get an apology from every other news service too then.  This was on MSNBC at 6 am the next morning and went national after that to every other network.  The parents and the kid were on most of the big morning news shows this morning.  15 minutes of fame.

This is one of the great "who cares?" stories of all time. Now the adults are all acting like the 3 year old kid. Heck I think the kid posts on this message board using a bunch of different names

sorry, if I'm that kids parent I tell him "that ball is not yours", and if that doesn't stop him from crying I'd just buy him some ice cream... the couple who caught it could have given him the ball or not, it doesn't matter, who cares, I hate myself for ever opening this thread.....

The rich old man and young lady couple did come off as jerks but this is just me if I catch a foul ball I am keeping it no matter who is next to me.

Let's try to be a little understanding ... this is a kid we are talking about ... baseball is HUGE in a kid's mind compared to an adult who can understand that someone else just happened to catch the ball ... a kid's heart is aching to catch that ball ... without the kids, where is baseball's future ... so let's give the kid a bit of a break here, alright guys!

Maybe that couple has a kid or nephew that they want to give the ball to. It's a bad lesson when a kid screams over a baseball and gets his way. Toughen the kid up, he'll get over it.

Or don't take a 3 year old kid to a ball game to irritate everyone sitting around him.

Art, the newscasters are slamming Kay and Kenny for thier commentary as this was played out over the balance of the game. I was watching it on Yes and the guys in the booth were on target. You had to see the whole thing. Now 2 days later, the fingers are pointed at them when this couple WAS tone deaf!

Couldn't possibly disagree with you more.

Put yourself in the Stadium as the couple who got the ball; there's lots of noise everywhere, so much so in fact that it's even possible they never heard the child crying, let alone knowing the exact reason why he was. How could they possibly know?

And what's even worse, how could Michael Kay assume that they did, and imply to millions they were taunting him?

Michael Kay was WAY OUT OF LINE, imo.

bottom line is that if most of the folks are for this crying kid to get what he wants I'm borrowing a 3 year old and taking him to a game and sitting in the Lonn Trost seats...   "ok kid, see that nice man's watch, point at it and start bawling until Michael Kay forces him to give it to you..."

I would have given the ball to the kid.  A momento from the game would be nice but making that kids day would have been cooler...

Have you ever been to a ball game?  Pretty sure you would be able to hear a screaming and crying kid sitting litterally right next to you.
