Hey Lola. I forgot to include the link. Hey I'm not bashing Cashman, never have. But theres no denying he's had his share of problems as far as pitching goes. And if its true this guy came into camp 30 lbs overweight thats just wrong and shame on him.

The whole thing is unfortunate Craner....believe me i'm broken hearted over it....but i'm sure they went over this kid with a fine tooth comb. He's a young pitcher....there's always a risk on injury....it happens. Thanks for postkng the link.

And oh please, let's not demonize the man, the way so many do around here ... he cared about this team and he showed it by always being willing to open up the piggy-bank to give whatever was necessary to make this team the best it could possibly be!

It's the risk you take Lola. At the end of the day,we needed an arm more then we needed a bat. As I've said before, look at the Rangers the past two years. In the end, they lost because while the pitching staff of the Cardinals was far from steller, they got the outs the Texas pitching staff couldn't.

I think you heard right. lol  The thing is, Seattle wanted the kid to report to camp early this year, the 3rd week in January to get in shape.  He should have mentioned that to the Yankees.  George would have fired Cashman over this one, no doubt in my mind.

Still and all, I maintain that you never trade away a potentially major offensive player in your system for a pitcher whose only credentials of promise derived the first half of the previous year. I'll miss watching Montero develop his offensive skills, which I think, with our line-up, he very well might have done. As for his poor catching abilities, well, Manny Ramirez was a horrible outfielder who yet go two of his teams to the playoffs mostly on the basis of his batting prowess. Ortiz is a full-time DH for the Sox, and seems to deliver punch for them year after year.

But what's done is done. Montero will never, rightly, want to come back here, having been used as a trade-bait-object by Cashman and his FO supporters from the get-go (time, by the way, to retire Michaels and Connors from their advisory roles--get new blood), no matter what he says to contrary. What we need now is another potential offensive star whom our GM OPENLY takes off the table regarding all possible, future trades, no matter if the other happens to a Halladay or even a Kershaw. To that end, even though he might not pan out, I'd like us to go after Soler. Suck it up, FO; pay the money. The game's a business, yes, but it's also a game for the fans. One without the other is a doomed strategy.

Won't give Manny or Ortiz too much props as it seems their best years were helped via the juice.

Yeah I don't know what I'm gonna do with all these damn Montero autographed rookie cards now!

Ughhhh....Everytime I hear Montero being compared to Manny I get sick all over again. I was at Jesus's debut game at the stadium last year.... he hit the game tieing and game winning home runs.
I have to disagree Hamp.... he'll be back but they're going to pay!

Seattle is going to keep him, look what they did with King Felix. Even if Jesus Montero was the only star on their team, they will hang onto him like he was their last piece of meat. They can't afford to lose offense.
