I guess you're able to do that when you constantly shove stuff thru with Executive Orders...

Obama Campaigning More Often Than Last 5 Presidents Combined

Last week, the Republican National Committee filed a complaint with the GAO (Government Accountability Office) upon suspicion that Barack Obama has been abusing taxpayer dollars to raise funds for his re-election campaign. This weekend, an article from Dailymail.co.uk reports that a book called The Rise of the President’s Permanent Campaign by Brendan Doherty (expected to be published in July in the midst of the heat of the summer campaign battle) gives “statistical backing to the notion that Obama is more preoccupied with being re-elected than any other commander-in-chief of modern times.” According to the book’s author, Obama has held 104 fundraisers before March 6 of this year, and that total is more than Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush combined (94.) Obama has announced that his first official campaign rally comes May 5.

The author of that book, Doherty, is a political science professor at the U.S. Naval Academy and “has also analyzed presidential travel to battleground or swing states, which change and fluctuate in number with each election cycle.” The article notes that, “Carter visited 18 battleground states, and Reagan seven out of 17. Bush Snr, Clinton, and Bush Jnr all visited three-quarters of battleground states while Obama went to all 15 within his first 12 months.”

This would all be fine, except for the fact that Obama famously promised to change how politics would be handled under his presidency. In his State of the Union Address this year, Obama suggested ways to rid the government of “the corrosive influence of money in politics,” but shortly after that, he reversed his decision and decided to endorse fundraising for super PACs (independent groups that can assist in campaigning, but not directly with the President’s campaign.) Having just recently visited “Indiana, Florida, Colorado, Arizona and North Carolina – all battleground states – in 2012,” it is unbelievably obvious that Obama is making it a priority to travel to these swing-states and continue his campaign efforts even though he says they haven’t officially begun.

While Republicans are complaining now, and likely wouldn’t be if the President shared their party, it is still very obvious that Obama is on a constant campaign. It must be awfully hard to run the Executive Branch of the American government while you are constantly trying to get re-elected. Obama has been touting issues like implementing a Buffett rule that would never pass through the House because of a Republican majority. I know the average voter only hears his great ideas and moving speeches, but his empty words must catch on at some point.

Like I said, its easier to find the time to campaign constantly when you just use Executive Order after Executive Order to shove your agenda thru.

This doesnt matter to people because the majority of the media wont talk about it, therefore no body has the chance to have it matter to them...

I read somewhere that Michelle Obama has appeared on television 50 times.  And POTUS seems to be on a late night talk show once a week.  I guess when you are the pres and wife you can appear as much as you like.  I don't remember past presidents and first ladies appearing much if at all, whether D or R.

Cleese, I am sure most if not all politicians enjoy being in the public eye, otherwise they would probably not be in politics.  However, I can't recall seeing George Bush/Barbara or Bill Clinton/Hillary or George W/Laura when they were in the White House being on TV so much(other then speeches).

Ya, thats what Im saying. When has a president or his family been on a late night TV show or on a day time talk show every time you turn around. Its like an every other day occurance it seems like. WTF is next, a daily talk show with Michelle on the front lawn of the WH?

You're hearing crickets because people for the most part don't need to respond to baseless accusations. "According to the books author" isn't good enough. His Campaign just started last week when it became clear who the GOP candidate would be.

The problem with politics is that when an elected official has plans to run for another term, they make many of their decisions and public appearances with an eye towards re-election.  THey don't always do what they necessarily believe is right, but what looks best to the voting public.  It's nothing new and certainly not only Obama who does it.  The fact that he/Michelle appear so much on TV is just that fact, and I am sure there are many people who enjoy seeing them on TV. Then again there are many people who like the "Jersey Shore" too, different strokes ......
