Joe, Hughes shows he's good for two innings then implodes.  His 09 success coupled with his seemingly effectiveness during his first go through the order - to me - means he's better suited to relief.

Whats Hughes shown us this season that makes him a better BP choice than Soriano is right now?

+1 and why would we want to weaken our strongest asset at this point in the season (bullpen) with our starting pitching a work in progress to say the least.

The idea is a tempting. That's a lot of money they could save.  But just as important,  Soriano has an opt-out in his contract after this season and Boras is his agent.  There's always the chance he could use that opt-out and try to go elsewhere.  They could get something of value in return rather than just let him walk for nothing.  It would make sense from both sides.  The only question then is if Hughes returns to his old form in the pen or continues to struggle.  If I had confidence that Hughes could return to his 09 form he showed in the pen, I'd do it.  But based on what Hughes has shown so far, he hasn't exactly instilled much confidence.

Hi Big Guy, I'm a believer if Rivera retires and Soriano has any kind of year he'll opt out. I'd be surprised if Boras misses an opportunity to get more years and dollars for his client.

If Soriano opts out I'd be crushed if the suits in Tampa blink a second time. ( for the record I was for bringing in Soriano but after the dust settled not at that price nor the ridiculous opt out. ) I hate opt outs and the organization should never give another one unless it's mutual.

I'm not sure I like the idea of trading with the Angels.

Even up for Soriano?? LOL Unfortunately Pujols' contract will be as bad as A-Rods.
