Their pen is godawful. They have money. I live in socal, i know many of their fans and heard chatter on talk radio today about acquiring him and making him their clsoe. They want him! anyone familiar with their farm system? could we get a prospect and some salary relief? hughes to pen?

I think the Yanks would jump on that if the Angels want to take on that contract.I thought he would be a great setup guy for Mo but that hasn't happened. Thank God for Robertson who is the best setup pitcher in baseball and they best I've seen since Mo did it for Wettland. It could weaken the pen a little but if you can get any value and still dump that contract it would be the way to go.

Soriano's numbers so far this season: 2-0, 1.29 ERA, 1.042 WHIP, 7 K. It's early yet, but you could make an argument that he has finally righted the ship, and that could make him a juicy trade acquisition for some team. Not to mention his contract would knock a good chunk of change off the payroll. I think the Angels would be willing to part with a young, bottom-end-of-the-rotation starter if they really want Soriano that badly.

i think his whip is 2.00. 6 walks is a bad scene. but i think he has value.

Great idea.  Give us Ervin Santana even for Soriano.  I know Santana has struggled this year but it might make him available.  Move Hughes to 7th inning.

Not a terrible idea......especially if Hughes can take his spot in the 7th.  I'd want more than a back end arm, however......

QUESTION.....IF THEY DO THAT???  Who takes Phil's spot on the Rotation....Andy??

Whats Hughes shown us this season that makes him a better BP choice than Soriano is right now?

Would the Angels eat yet another contract after the Vernon Wells one? I don't think they'll be so antsy to do so.

To move Soriano would make some happy, but he's a lock down part of this BP and I'd want something better then a low level, back end of a rotation guy for him, I'm betting the Yankees feel the same way.. I don't know what the Angels have on their farm for young promising outfielders, but that might be appealing to the Yankees if something was available that would interest them ?? I think we could fill Soriano's spot in the BP, maybe not quit as good, the bad is we might have to weaken our rotation to do that, but it would be worth a gamble if the right player was available.. I'm sure if Ca$hmans phone were to ring he would have to scratch his head about some kind of deal ??
