Go Phil....

Martin at DH vs. the lefty Matusz

Posted by: Chad Jennings - Posted in Misc on May 01, 2012

Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Mark Teixeira 1B
Andruw Jones RF
Russell Martin DH
Eduardo Nunez LF
Chris Stewart C

RHP Phil Hughes

Attention, with two catchers in the lineup..... Raul Ibanez would be emergency catcher. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that," he said. Came up as catcher in SEA org.

Mark Feinsand

  • Does Girardi think Hughes is worried about his job? “I don’t know how he thinks about it. I really just want him to focus on what he needs to do as opposed to focusing on who’s lingering. There are no guarantees. We expected Pineda to be in our rotation and look at what happened. I’m sure it’s probably on his mind some, but I’m sure what’s more on his mind is he’s probably frustrated with where he’s at right now, and probably believes he’s a much better pitcher than he’s shown."

With both Swisher and Gardner out, it doesn't leave the team with much choice when facing a lefty

I think we may see a good outing from Phil tonight.  6+ IP, 2 runs.

Ha! A threat or a promise?  Freddy Garcia is available out of the bullpen tonight if needed.

No chance in hell, unless the O's hitters agreed to go to the plate blindfolded... even so all they had to do is swing down the middle.

C'mon Phil, keep the wheels on. Don't let that run get to you.
