Two very bad pitches but all in all a decent start for Hughes. I thought aside from thos two very bad pitches his stuff had great movement. Certainly something to build on

The only thing  you can do with him is either send him back to Scranton to play everyday  and /or  have him play winter ball.  But that is a  long way off.

As  far as Hughes is concerned , he has proven  tonight he is NOT a  starter, he is a reliefer  and it is time the Fo owns up to that.

Respectfully... If you had your way, the Yankees wouldn't be able to field 25 guys night to night. Stop listening to thirty different sports outlets every day. It's a long season. You're giving me whiplash.

You are so right about the off season being better here

Its always the same though, something to build on never becomes the real thing. Four runs in 5.2 innings is still a 6.92 ERA.

Tonight wasn't the same thing. He kept the wheels from falling off. The 4th run while charged to Hughes was logan throwing gas on the fire. He has been horrible so far this year but i thought he looked pretty good tonight.

Also giving up the lead right after the offense gives him one. They ain't getting any runs anyways however. The pitcher would need to pitch a shutout to win.

Brian Matusz is not a good pitcher. If all the Yankees could get is one run off a guy like that...then I don't think Hughes should be blamed for losing.

I thought Hughes looked all right, other than a couple of pitches he probably wishes he could get back. Velocity was clearly there and his pitches had some movement. Lets see if he improves in his next start.

C'mon man...The guy is terrible. You're saying that he "looked all right" when he gave up 4 runs in less than 6 innings. That's terrible especially when you're fighting for your job. The guy needs to be sent down. Maybe it would embarass him into realizing that he needs a lot of improvment.

His velocity was fine, and his pitches had movement on them. He looked all right. Not good, not horrible, just all right. Much better than he's been.

Like I said I'm not going to blame him for a loss when the Yankees only get 1 run off a stiff like Matusz.

Well, I will blame him. A good pitcher (note that I said good not great) will only give up 1 less run than his offense gives him. He gave up 4 in less than 6. What's that, an ERA of 6?
