To me, it's Girardi's fault. Just a matter of time. He got away with Nunez in LF last night, but how long can it continue?
WHEN IS GIRARDI GOING TO LEARN NOT TO PUT HIM IN THE INFIELD BECAUSE HE WANT TO REST JETER/AROD? HOW MANY TIMES DOES NUMBNUTS HAVE TO SCREW THINGS UP BEFORE GIRARDI SAYS TO HIMSELF, "DU-UH. . .I DON'T THINK HE PLAY DERE"? HE IS A PURELY OFFENSIVE PLAYER WITH A GOOD BAT. WANT TO PLAY HIM IN THE FIELD? STICK HIM WAY OUT IN RF.
The Yankees aren't bothering to try to build Nunez because I'm sure they know his talent will keep him as a utility player throughout his career. With his hands and weak bat, there's no way he'll be an everyday player unless his ability improves drastically. The bottom line is the Yankees have a guy that can play almost every position on the field except catcher and 1st base for next to nothing. Every team needs a guy like that, no matter how good or bad he is. He's not supposed to be in there permanently.
