I thought exactly the same thing when I heard this.

This looks like it has the potential to be a long summer

It sure does.

Nobody - I mean nobody - loves Mariano more than I. So don't come at me when I say, I just saw the video of him running after fly balls. Stupidest thing I've seen since....well, Jinah's last post.

That what the Yankee fans said when Wally Pipp went on the DL, and all the Yanks had to replace him was some egg-head from Columbia University.

I remember back in 2001 when the Bledsoe, the Patriots Pro Bowl QB went down and was replaced by some 3rd string back up.

Another solution is to have 7 run leads in the 9th.

That would be great, but the way this team's been hitting lately they're lucky if they score 7 runs in a week.

With Mo it's surprising because he never gets hurt but this is what happens when you have so many old key players. I just never figured it would be him.

"Shagging" balls is ok, running after them like it's the 7th game of the WS stinks. I know a lot of pitchers do it but I would think common sense should be used by the team and Mo.

Not a shock the offense is slumping..all the weight from carrying the pitching staff wore them out.

Luv, that was RIDICULOUS the way he ran after that ball towards the wall. It may as well have been Jim Edmonds diving towards the wall.  Just ridiculous.

I just saw the replay. Mo has done this thousands of times before games. I just don't get why people find the need to affix blame. I honestly don't see how it's anyones fault. Not the Yankees, not Mo, not Cashman, not Girardi, not the organization. Shagging flies seems like something he has loved his whole career. If he conceeded that he shouldn't do that anymore perhaps the game wouldn't be fun for him and he would have quit already. These guys play a somewhat physical game. Mo seems to be a great athlete that stays in great shape. Spit happens!! It sure is a sad day. I'm not looking to upset anyone it just seems that on a daily basis for everything that ever goes wrong we need some fall guy.
