The lineup is dysfunctional and has been since 2009. We never really have come up with a legitimate number 2 hitter. Neither Granderson or Swisher fit that mold. Granderson should be hitting 6th and Swisher 7th. Cano right now has some old habits.. widening the strike zone and not being as selective. Having said that I still rather have him up in the 9th than Tex. It was inevitable that Tex was going to hit into a double play. He keeps trying to pull pitches he should not. Although he hit the pitch hard if you look at the replay it was on the outside part of the plate. Also the more Nunez plays the more average he seems. Sometimes guys that show potential in back up positions do not maintain that level when they play more often. And face the facts if he is not hitting or generating offense then he is not really adding anything given his defensive liabilities.

I agree about not having having a #2 hitter, but personally I think we have a #2 hitter but he's leading off.. Look at the O's #2 hitter, I think he was batting around .200, but he can bunt, he can hit behind runners and he also can hit a HR as we saw off of Hughes.. The real truth is we are lacking a lead off/second place hitter, one or the other and it's killing us.. This team just doesn't know how to move runners up 90 feet when they need to.. I think a bunt by Tex and that slow ground ball (if it would have been the same way) would have tied the game, I don't see KC trying to get Jeter at home, if just not to prevent a big inning.. We're tied at least, but I guess that's why Girardi and Tex are getting paid the big bucks....

I'd love to make a counterpoint to A.J.'s posts but there is no defending this garbage.

I wonder why Tex was moved up to the 3 hole. Id rather have Robbie hittin gin the 9th over Tex.

This had me confused as well Joe. What the heck has he done to deserve a promotion? I get better entertainment watching Chris Stewart come to the plate than the 22 million dollar man.

Nick Johnson: 0 for April. Faces the Yankees and gets 3 hits and 2 doubles.

Brian Matusz: Lost 12 straight decisions. Faces the Yankees and pitches a shutout.

Royals: 0-10 at home this year. Yankees come to town, now the Royals are dominating (the score could have easily been 8-2 or worse if they didn't leave so many on base).

When it was just the Yankee pitching that was bad, they still managed to out-bludgeon some teams. Now the hitting AND pitching is gone, and this team doesn't stand a chance against anyone.

I'm quite sure you're right. The Yankees will surely never win another game. LOL!!!!!!!!

One also has to mention the fact Cano came up three times with runners on first and second and failed to bring them home each time.

AJ is good for comic relief, just like ron is in the political forum. You can't really take either of them too seriously though.

That being said I really don't care what AJ or anyone says about the yankees, I just care about them winning playing well.

I'll never understand guys like AJ. Always looking to twist the knife in Yankee fans. After all these years, he STILL has zero concept of a 162 game schedule. As much as people try, there is no talking to him and I'm always amazed when he comes on here feeling persecuted. I'm betting he hasn't picked up a ball since Little League, if then.
