People need to understand that I wasn't taking a shot at Mo. He and Jeter are two incredible players and both have been consistently great on this team for a very long time. My comment was directed at the rest of this team, that combined couldn't carry either of their jocks in a big spot during a game. I guess the tone made it seem like it was an attack on Mo, but it wasn't. It p*sses me off that you can't count on any other players to come through in a crucial moment.

Seriously? The way this team is playing, they wouldn't be needing him anyway. I don't see them actually LEADING many games any time soon.

Lets say....  what you said  is true as Yankees won't be leading in many games.  As Yankees don't need him....it's okay with you if Rivera is done for the season.  Have a little sensitivity, Rivera is the most beloved Yankees of our times.  Your indifference to his situation is remarkably cold.

You don't get it.....He's likely to be out the the rest of the season.  What a terrible way to end his career if this is indeed his final season..  Here's what you don't comprehend........Fans didn't get a chance to give him a proper send off if this is it...You are one cold fish....

Its a waste trying to reason with him...save it, youll be better off.

Absolutely devasting news.....I hate to say it but.....Mo is done! I don't think we'll ever see The Great Rivera pitch again. This is a sad day! I feel like I've lost a dear friend.....very sad.

You don't get it. We're calling you because a man who is the best closer there was,who has shown more grace and class than almost anyone else in baseball's career is ending in the worst possible way. Quit whining about the team for one freaking night and think about Mo,his family and fans.

He had to chase the ball a little, but it's not a difficult play to make. He pivoted the wrong way & when he tried to correct his positioning he tore up his knee. It was a freak accident. I found some before & after photos of an ACL surgery: http://www.ksknee.com/Ligament%20Reconstruction.htm It's a miracle how doctors can "repair" something like this.

How do you know he won't want to come back next year? You think this is how he wants to go out?

Does this provide a clue....

Mariano teared up as he answered questions on torn acl ... Said he's unsure if he would pitch again

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.

Yeah this is devastating news. I hope that he is back in some way, shape or form... Mo loves this game... a class act in every way. I would hate to see someone this great go out like this... I hope it is on his terms... not an injury... Even if it has to be 2013...
