It doesn't sound like Mo has decided to hang it up as he said..."All that depends on how the rehab is going to happen, from there we'll see".  "There are reasons  why it happened, so you have to take the way it is and fight through it.  Now we just have to fight".

It seems to me there is no fighting though it if he's going to end it right here.

Don't read too much into those words ... what do you expect him to say ... well, this is it ... it's all over ... ?? ... he's not going to say that now ... but once he has had an entire year to deal with this and he has turned 43 in the process, the chances are much greater that he will not be returning.

I am just trying to be reasonable here ... and not put my expectations at an unreasonable level.

Of course I would love to see Mo return ... but it's not going to happen ... and I'd rather take my medicine now ... it's bitter, but it's medicine, what do I expect.

By the way, what would people prefer ... to see Mo go out because his arm is falling off and he can't pitch anymore, or to see him have a freak accident and, coupled with his age, he decides to retire ... personally, I would take the latter.

From what I heard on sports radio Hershiser and Showalter don't seem to think Mo is done.  They feel he has lots of fire to go out this way.   He shags those balls with abandonment of a man who loves the game.

Maybe I'm in want of more...I guess we all can't get what we want.....I like him to end his career hoisting a trophy on his teammates shoulders not sitting in the back of a truck heading to the hospital.....

I'd hate to see Mariano Rivera come back at age 43, after missing an entire year of pitching, and go to that mound and not look like Mariano Rivera ... but a shell of himself ... and then be forced to retire in that state ... I'd much rather he go out this way.  The chance of Mariano coming back after a year out and at age 43 and hoisting a trophy with his teammates is asking for a small miracle ... so I wouldn't hold out for that.

And what sports writers think means absolutely nothing to me lauren ... they have to have some kind of an opinion ... it goes one way or another ... 50/50 ... just like on this board ... and it's just as meaningless.
