I can tell you that the running has done some amazing things for her ... she had a difficult time with a boyfriend situation and she was going through some rough issues, and the running is really what helped her keep her cool and work through it ... she doesn't go a day without her run.

Good for your daughter Mo.  Jogging is a very good regulator.  I hope she is carefull, jogging everyday really is a pounding on the body, especially the knees and hips.  At my age, it is very hard to jog two days in a row.

She's such a tiny girl ... does size matter?

I am in no way an expert but the smaller you are, the less pounding there is.  It is like everything else, you really need to know your body.  I have had good luck with using cushioning orthodics, staying hydrated, not wearing worn shoes, taking glucosamine supplements, stretching and warming up, and not over-doing it.  I also go very easy on down hill areas.  In the summer, when I tend to jog more, I need to wear a knee brace/stabilizer from time to time.

When she comes home there is a trail by the water that she likes to run on ... it's uphill all the way for miles ... that can't be too good, huh?

going uphill or up-stairs is/are much easier on the knees.  My house is on one of the highest peaks in eastern Massachusetts.  So the end of my jog ends up a very steep hill, my strategy is run like Mantle, head down, elbows up.
