Chas, I know this doesn't belong here but over the last couple of days, there has been a rather large dog food recall on some popular brands. People might want to go to www.dogfoodadvisor.com to see if the food they are feeding has been recalled. There have not been any fatalities. The food has been predominantly distributed on the east coast and California. I'm surprised the national media hasn't picked up on this yet

Thanks new... and Dakota says thanks too.  I did see something on the news this morning about the Diamond dog food, but this looks like it's much more wide spread than just that.  Several brands are listed there.

The sad thing is all of the brands are premium dog foods. Some cost as much as $58 for  a 30lb bag. The one manufacturer that you might not have ever heard of is the manufactures some very well known dog foods so please make sure ou check the entire list

I feed my dog Wellness Super 5 Mix for Seniors...A pretty good food. My dog likes it and it seems to agree with her well. My dog became deathly ill from food bought at a pet supply store and it was Diamond Brand. I was devastated..felt like I poisoned her, but with a lot of love and care she got better. If you really love your dog you'll spend the extra money to get the best for them...I mean they love you unconditionally. So definitely be careful...anything that comes from China could mean death for your beloved pet.

Thanks New, that dog advisor site is very good. I check it out anytime I think of changing to another brand.   This happens to frequently that it's getting to the point that we might start cooking a weekly batch of food.I add supplements and pure pumkin already to her dry.  I have a healthy dog cookbook, might give it a try.

I have 6 dogs, 4 Brittanys that we have shown and gained their championships. 2 were invited to Westminster, a cavalier and a Rhodesion Ridgeback. I feed them Taste of The Wild and have had very good success with it. Obviously not all dogs do well on all foods so choose wisely.

Some of the less expensive brands and some premium brands got some of their ingredients from China. A couple of years ago the imported grains contained melamine and a large number of dogs died.
