I just operate under the assumption that everything from that place has enough lead and other contaminants in it to kill an elephant.  I wont purchase any dinnerware, toiletries or food from the commies.

??? What?!

Some of the less expensive brands and some premium brands got some of their ingredients from China. A couple of years ago the imported grains contained melamine and a large number of dogs died.

The relief vet at my wife's work despises Diamond dog food. We have been feeding 4health,but will most likely change. We are changing our cats to Royal Canin. I appreciate you posting about the recall.

Funny part is that other premium dog foods such as Taste of the Wild, some Canidaie and some Natural Balance use the Diamond factory in South Carolina to produce their food and those are very high end premium pet foods foods. It's amazing what goes on in the billion dollar pet food industry.

Wellness was also on the list ... only two of the types, but it was on the list ... and I was told by my vet that Wellness is a premium food.

I forgot to mention Wellness and yes that's another premium food. The foods affected were very limited batches. Most of the foods I mentioned also manufacture in other states like Missouri and they weren't affected at all. The reason so many of the foods that were recalled are yet to be replaced on the shelf is that the factory in SC is still closed and the companies  haven't been able to catch up with production and shipping from their other plants

Well I was happy my type of Wellness wasn't on the list ... so I'm off the hook this time around!

Wellness is one of the 5 star rated foods so you never know. My dog was on it for a while but I changed it to EVO which is expensive, grain free and alot of protein. I think I'm going to switch because she is 9 which is considered a senior for dogs. I have to find a good senior dog food or start cooking it myself.

I fed EVO for awhile. I'm certainly no vet but that is an awful lot of protein for a senior dog yank. One of my dogs is a very active (Brit) that is 10. I have him on the salmon taste of the wild. 25% protein. Every 6 months I change him over to TOTW Lamb. Both grain free both 25% protein

yeah, the only things I directly give up my money for things made in china is electronics. They really got making gadgets down to a science. I'd hate to think how much my tv would have cost had it been made in Japan, S. Korea or the states.

Sounds like a lot of protein ... you gotta be careful with older dogs ... newinn knows so much about this kind of stuff ... I would stick with his advice on anything regarding dogs ... you can't go wrong listening to that man when it comes to dogs!

Has anyone heard where the contamination came from?

It was salmonella. Probably didn't  clean the machines between batches and one of the batches might have been contaminated. What's interesting is that at first there were 14 reported cases of salmonella poisoning of humans. 5 admitted to not telling the truth. So throughout the country there are 9 reported cases. From what I understand there is not even any definate proof that it existed or contaminated the food. By the way (and i hope this doesn't sound insulting) but always wash your hands thoughoughly after handleing dog food
