Maybe we need to switch Soriano and D-Rob around.. Soriano has the experience to be a closer, D-Rob is still a little green yet.. If the call at second was made correct we still might be playing, but another if..

Another night the offense went silent.. Tex saves a lot of runs with his glove, but when your paid $20 plus million you need to hit the ball some for average... But again another total offensive flop... This team needs to score more then one run against any pitcher, it's paid to do that...

In the same token, closers are there to indeed deliver a win with a 1-2 run lead.  I know this is only a small sample, I still wonder if Robertson has the mental fortitude to close games.  Yesterday he was also tinkering on blow it....Undecided

The only reason he didn't blow last night's game is because the ump was calling pitches a foot outside strikes for him in Pena's AB to end the game.

No doubt D-Rob has the stuff, it's just whether he has the mind set yet ??  I know hind sight is always easier, but I'm not sure I wouldn't have let Soriano be the prime closer this year and let D-Rob close a few games now and then.. Soriano has the experience, he's done it in the AL East, so he's a proven commodity.. Robertson needs to work his way in to this closer role, not get thrown into the fire so to speak... These last two nights have been a pressure cooker for sure, against one of your rivals and with no wiggle room.. Tough on a kid no matter who he is.. Also that blown call at second didn't help him either, but you can't count on those to go one way or the other, you just can't give up that many first pitch hits to start the ninth inning...

In previous interview Robertson didn't sound too confident in regards to closing games with Mo out for the season.  Perhaps Robertson needs to ease into that role.  Soriano is paid closer money to back up Mo...Let him do his job to close games.

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.

The big problem now is Girardi has backed himself into a corner and if he would decide to change his mind between Soriano and Robertson it might give Robertson a bad feeling.. I'm like you, I thought he was going to flip flop some of these closer situations, well now he's painted himself into a situation that might not be so easy to get out of... This should have not been that hard of situation, I let Soriano close until he fails, then you could have went to Robertson and not put him into such a bad situation..

I think it's a bit premature to decide whether or not Robertson is fit for the closers role.  Mo was not always Mo.  And not so long ago everyone was all jittery about DRob saying he is our future closer.  2 games is too small a sample size.

Give Robertson a break!! He's only a kid filling the shoes of an immortal. He's gonna be just fine.

Guy had a bad game.  Can you imagine the nerves?  Dude, I get nervous in a supermarket line with more than four people.  If you want to point fingers, I'd much rather start with the anemic offense and all the opportunities to tack on runs.  And, while it's only May, I am getting really sick on Texiera's early season disappearing act.  I swear the guy could hit into a DP if there were only four guys in the field.

It's not two games, it's his entire career. He has always put men on base, and that's not what you want from your closer. He had been lucky to get out of it in the game on Tuesday, but tonight it finally caught up to him. To be honest, he might have blown the save on Tuesday as well if it wasn't for the ump giving him a huge K-zone. Soriano has closed before and he needs to be put there now. Continuing to have Robertson be the closer is asking for trouble.

You are SO right on! I cannot imagine the weight on his shoulders replacing a legend! Really, I so hope the fans are patient with him.

Soriano scares me more AJ....lets give him more time to see ok. He's in a pressure situation none of us can imagine.

Robertson isn't a closer, and he threw about 40 pitches last night; he was overworked before he even came in. You can't have someone who is known for putting men on base repeatedly to close your games. Soriano isn't any better, but at least he has closed before.

I could be wrong but I thought he threw 28 the nite before. Robertson is going to take soem patience the way the Yanks were when Mo was setting up for Wetteland. It going to put  pressure on the starters to go deeper into games. D-Rob isnt economical which means he wont be able to be the go-to guy as much unless you burn him out. This will be interesting to see develop.

It's the same line of thinking that brought us, "Pineda reported to camp 10 lbs... No, 20 lbs... No, 30 lbs overweight" Joe.  I believe the final number for pitches by Robertson on Tuesday night will probably settle around 50 by the weekend.  They've even got you doing it..lol. (the actual number was 25 Tuesday).
