With a plethora of D-Rob threads, perhaps Soriano is deserving of one....Laughing

His first save after Mo's departure was perhap uneventful.. Nevertheless he did his deed....1IP, 1H, 1R...
Any comments?  Lets not complain about Soriano yanking his shirt after his day was done.... Tongue OutLaughing

He may not be as dominant as Robertson, but he should be the closer IMO. He has experience and has had success at closing, plus the Yankees are paying him closer money. Robby can do the job don't get me wrong, I'm not down on him just because of last night, but I think Sori should close because of his experienced track record.

I agree with both of you; I'm not altogether convinced that Robertson has the mental attitude to be the closer.  Soriano obviously does, which is what makes me incline in his direction.

Don't get me wrong; Robertson is a great pitcher.  He may, however, be best utilized as a setup man, which, really, is every bit as important as a closer.

In this day in age I couldn't agree with you more. Set up men often prove to be just as valuable to a team's success as a closer. With pitch counts and pitchers not going deep into games as often, the 7th and 8th innings are key innings many starters often don't see anymore.

I'm not impressed with Soriano.  Never have been.  And the whole shirt thing, I sure hope Girardi has some words with him about that.

In all honesty, I don't trust either Soriano or Robertson on back-to-back days ... maybe the answer is to let them take turns and get someone else to handle the 8th inning.

Hopefully our offense can deliver some blow out games where a closer is not needed back to back. Laughing Nice to see the middle of the lineup gearing up with hits today....

If it was a 1 run game you all would be yelling at Soriano saying he isn't made for the job.  Lets be realistic, Robertson should be the closer he earned it.  You need more than 2 games to determine whether or not he has the mentality for the role.

I think that you are wrong. First of all, if it was a 1 run game, the baserunner would have never got to second, and there would have been a double play.

I love Robertson, but his abilities hinge on strikeouts which take more pitches, and also cause him to get into trouble like he did both nights.

I don't trust Soriano a whole lot and think we should stick with Robertson and hope he's half of Mariano. If he falls flat then of course soriano and hold your breath with Robertson the 8th inning guy. Some teams dont have anything close to a real closer type, we're lucky to have two guys who could do it.......hopefully.
