Clemens was great to have on the staff even though he was a $#@!!! jerk to everyone.

He sure got inot the Mets heads. Those dudes are still in psycho therapy and Piazza's scarred for life! lol

Sorry Joe.... I don't think throwing at someone's head is funny. Piazza owned Clemens so that SOB hit him in the head. I was at that game and I couldn't believe what Clemens did,  I have to tell you I hung my head in shame after that. I've never been as embarrassed with a Yankee as I was after that game.... that was until Clemens threw the bat at Piazza in the World Series. Clemens must have stuck a firecracker up his ass before that game... talk about a roid rage. I found nothing about the man likeable or funny.

NOT in favor of beaning anyone...never was, never will be. My record in here about that is very clear and very consistent.  I was referring to the aftermath of that, in the WS when the Mets were truly inimidated by him. As I said also earlier in this thread, I understand and respect FULLY the plethora of reasons why people do not like him, Yankee fan or not. I get that. I would still make that trade back then to add one of MLBs most dominating pitchers to our staff.

Bob Gibson was a dominating force on the mound.  Hate him or love him he's in your grill to get the better of you.  He was the most feared pitcher batters came across in the game of baseball.

In the mode of Gibson, Clemens presence reads domination.  Understandably I can see many hated Clemens especially his demonstrative roid rage. You take the good with the bad, but in the end he gave you a great chance in winning games.

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.

I understand the intimidation factor and some guys have made a career out of being dominating.... but throwing at a guys head is another story. Throwing a ball over 90 mph at a guys head is deadly.... certainly nothing to be proud of.

I don't miss certain parts of the good old days of baseball. Like you Lola,I find nothing admirable about throwing balls straight at people's heads.

Proud is not a word one would use in discribing them.  I never said I like head hunters like Gibson, Ryan, or Clemens.  I'm just stating their intimidation factor and their ability to dominate.  Pitcher of that ilk are hated and feared by most players and fans a like.  Like it or not ..... one cannot dismiss their ability to deliver wins.

I have heard Singleton say on several occasions as he refers to Nolan Ryan...whenever we played against his team, I'm so glad Ryan already pitched yesterday.  Their is a degree of respect players have in describing Ryan and his ilk.

Mr good guys they are not.  Indeed it's not difficult to abhor those kinds of pitchers and especially if he's an opponent.

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.

Add Pedro to the list... I was at the game he sent Jeter and Soriano to the hospital. The funny thing is The Yanks were his daddy!

I hated that $#@ more when he won a World Series ring. Him,Josh Beckett,Lenny Dystyrka..some of the biggest scumbags/jerks around have the honor of a World Series Ring while Mussina,Donnie Baseball and others don't.
