AJ I've been mostly happy with my ASUS except for losing the original hard drive and this irritating problem. I have a ton of room on the hard drive....only using right now 50 GB out of 676 GB available! And I have thousands of pics and lots of video clips of family. I'm not a gamer so nothing more than some child games for grandkids are on it.

It's crazy how cheap hard drives have gotten. I have a computer from 2004 that has only a 35 GB hard drive; now, most computers come with no less than 500 GB's, and many have 1 TB (1,000 GB) or more hard drive space. The next wave of technology is going to be the solid state drives, which are even faster at reading/writing data than the disk drives most computers have. They are still relatively expensive now, but in a couple years they will be as cheap as the other hard drives.

AJ, my homebuilt rig boots up in 24 seconds! I use a small 60GB SSD for my system drive. The BIOS alone on my ASUS mobo takes 14 seconds of the 24 to do it's housekeeping.

Yeah, I just mentioned this. SSD's have no moving parts and work similarly to how the rest of the motherboard and CPU operates, so they are insanely fast. I recommend anyone who is considering a new PC to install one of these and use it to boot your computer. You don't need a lot of hard drive space because you really only need it to boot up your PC. After that is done, you can just save your files on an alternate disk drive or external HDD.

LOL...at least under 4 hours worth!

If you had an erection that lasted more than four hours, would you go to the doctor or hold a press conference and issue a call for volunteers?

Forget the Doctor, find a horny nurse instead.

HAHAHAHA!!! If I had one that lasted for more than 4 hours, I wouldn't call my doctor, I'd call everyone I know and then head to the Bunny Ranch.

You think that 20+ yrs ago we would've even had commercials run on prime time TV mentioning erections? Think about it.

I remember when the twin towers were being built the local news always showed both erections going up.

Haha Joe....thats what they called my Gramp! LaughingNo really, I'm no puritan but I cant imagine sitting watching TV when the kids were little and a commercial coming on for guys to get erections and they might even last 4 hrs! Maybe i'm a bit old fashioned but dont think they should be on prime time TV.

Getting a bit personal here but oh well....like I said I used to laugh at these commercials and tell the mrs....hahaha honey you think I need that crap? Well due to prostate cancer things went " down " and I've had to try things.....and in fact did get one of those longer lasting ones....not 4 hrs! But long enough and it was NO fun. Just imagine someone pulling on junior. Yell

You make a good point, Prof -- I use an external hard drive for permenant storage. It's probably a mistake, but it's way easier.

HDD's are fast and convenient but they are prone to failure. I see this all the time. Anything critical you should burn to DVD.

The problem is the capacity of optical media hasn't kept pace with magnetic or electronic drives. There are work-arounds but it gets pricey.

Well granddaughter Summer is sleeping over and in our bed. Just got home from work and ready to hit the sack. I'll have to squeeze her over towards Grama and hope that Summer doesnt do what she usually does when she sleeps with us...punch me a few times during the night! No fighting please Summer! Yell
