They leave a promising kid in the rotation, and let him take his lumps and learn his trade. Take, for example, the Angels' starter tonight, Ervin Santana, who began his career with terrific stuff, but took his lumps the 1st 3 years of his career before emerging as a quality #3 man (now pushed back to #4 with the arrival of Wilson).
