Big money won and workers lost. Disappointed to see that you're so happy about Nurses, Police, Firefighters and teachers having their collective bargaining rights taken away. I can understand the greed faction of the 1% and the people who don't like the idea of paying a minimum wage liking it. But you? The Walker win just made it easier for your boss to screw you if he or she chooses to. Workers get an overtime rate, a minimum number of work hours per day, a fair wage, vacation time, sick days because of the direct or indirect influence of Unions. Don't believe the GOP propaganda. Believe it or not they don't have your best interests in mind. Instead go look at the labor laws and the way workers were treated before Unions came along.

problem is it isnt, 1820 anymore unions for the most part have out lived their original purpose. now they stand for greed and the want for things that are fiscally impossible to give.  we live in a much different world in a much different culture than that of 1820.

Unions stand for greed? Now that's funny. If at times things are ask for that the books show are fiscally impossable give backs have been made. As they should. Also, It isn't 1820 but it can go back to that. If you think that we are in a much different world and a much different culture. You should tell that to the poster who on here told us how his boss tried to force him and his fellow workers to go to ground zero without the proper masks. The Union stepped in and his boss was forced to wait until the masks arrived. Which one can say saved those people from getting sick or worse.

Even Massachusetts, the bluest of blue states doesn't have collective bargining right for state workers' health insurance benefits.  Why don't the liberals attack Mass. Gov. Patrick, like they attacked Wi. Gov. Walker?

You might be surprised to know that I'm actually glad Walker won. The people of Wisconsin spoke when he was elected a couple of years ago. Having a successful recall would have set a terrible precident and might even futher keep politicians from facing tough decisions for fear of a recall. All of these pols are in constant campaign mode as it is. Fear of recall would make the campaigning even more prevalent. If you don't like the way a representative is acting, vote him out at the next election. I do have a problem with the big money on both sides going into these campaigns. It's getting worse by the day

Very fair and logical assessment newinn. You're absolutely right, recalls over policy disagreement are insane, both sides. Thats what elections are for. Disagree with Walker or not you gotta hand it to him for stepping out of the box to DO something and apparently the people in Wisconsin are happy with his performance. He won a 2nd election by more than the 1st. I also agree on the money issue but really dont think it had much to do here, this has been going on there for so long people knew the facts very well. The facts are that public employee unions have sucked us dry and all over the nation changes are happening, even in NY here where Scott Walker Cuomo is doing about the same thing here. The issue of bargaining rights being taken away was way overblown, it only effects the benefit side, not wages.

Unions did indeed make some wonderful advances for all workers we see today. Now its mostly all a matter of law, Unions for the most part are no longer needed and have become just money laudering machine for Democrats. What influence they have now is negative, ridiculous contracts that have strangled local govt's and job creation with ridiculous work rules for companies. So thank you to those Unions of years gone by for some of the good laws now but you've overstepped the bounds in many many ways and a new day is dawning all across the nation. See Andrew Cuomo, Democrat.

I have been very outspoken about civil service benefits. Think about it. A police officer comes on the job at say, 24. Retires at 75% at 44, replaced by another cop that is 24. 20 years later he retires while we are still paying the 1st cop that retired and now we hire another cop to replace the second cop that is now retired. We are paying 3 people to do one job. It's crazy. Fact is politicians gave into these type demands. That being said as much as I'm happy Walker won, I thought he took things a bit far by taking away collective bargaining. Again though, the people of Wisconsin spoke now Dems, let it Be until the next election

I have said it before, I like Christie. I think he has found some good compromise with the Dems in NJ. He also calls a spade a spade in negotiations with civil service unions.

Yep the voter in Wisc can approve or disapprove next election. Wondering how much this cost the tax payer there having this recall. Warning sign for states....make a law recalls are only for misconduct in office, not policy differences.

Also being over looked by Walker is San Diego and San Jose Ca voted to cut public employee pensions. Details I dont know.

If Unions overstep it's one thing but that's why people negotiate. When there's no more unions to kick around the next generation will see how worker's rights will diminish.
