Romney was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Obama went from being a child on welfare to POTUS.

No.. let me help out here.

Now we "learn" that Obama’s poor destitute mother was on food stamps. But when might that be?

Barack Obama was born in 1961 but his mother could not get food stamps then because a) she was married and b) they were not available then.

Then Barack (Senior) moved to a foreign country. I don’t think that we were sending food stamps to foreign nations.

When his mother moved back to the U.S. in 1965, food stamps were not available in Hawaii (only 22 states participating).

In 1967, she married the second time and moved to Jakarta. Nope, no food stamps then.

By the time she moved back once again, Barack (our POTUS) was living with his grandparents who had jobs and food stamps were not being handed out like Halloween candy in those years.

It would be interesting if someone did a formal request to see if his mother ever collected food stamps or was a welfare recipient of any sort. My guess? It is all bull $%&.

In the October 15, 2006 edition of Time Magazine Obama claimed:  "I was going to a fancy prep school, and my mother was on food stamps while she was getting her Ph.D."

Did I say food stamps? Nope. I said welfare. I need proof of otherwise,  snippets from a right wing blog don't count. You can believe what you want, but it doesn't diminish the fact the he came from a broken home and made it to our nation's highest office. That's a lot bigger leap than being born into a rich political family. Which is the whole point in rebuting Craner's comment..

We do; it's all on the Internet, which is why all the Nitwit Newsmen on ABC, NBC and CBS and their mini-me Cable Stations have mini-ratings.

I think you are bit confused.

Nowhere did I state that Bush was responsible, because he wasn't.

One needs to truly learn how government works and the criminals who have done the long term damage (it starts with the CRA act under Carter).

Enough of that.

I can forgive anyone who was under the gaze of Obama in 2008. But, now that we have seen what he has done to damage our country, its history, its standing, anyone voting for Obama in 2012 is an enemy of the Constitution and of this great nation.

Yep, Bush inherited a huge mess of a deficit from Clinton, took us to two very cost-effective wars that were both a resounding success, got unemployment down to 0.5% and gas to 5 cents a gallon, and gave us 15 million new jobs a month before that evil Obama took over and ruined everything.

People on this site make FOX and MSNBC look legitimate.

That's a bit extreme to say that about those who disagree with you, TD. Can you explain the damage he has done? Most of the stimulus money went to tax cuts. You can't be complaining about Obama keeping the Bush tax rate. Obamacare hasn't started yet, so it wouldn't be fair to judge that. He ended one war and started the process to end the other. Private sector jobs while not at the rate we would like are up every month. Public enemy #1 is dead, drones are killing terrorists at will. GM is alive and building good cars again. So please explain.

I hope it works out well then. Keep watching FOX news! Look... I don't pretend to be happy with either choice. But given the choice, I'll give Obama another four years. Im going to proudly pull the democratic "party lever" this time to attempt to give him a chance to get something done. This whole republican love-fest on here is kind of a joke man. I originally came down here years ago out of curiosity. I was run out pretty quickly. I rarely come back, but sometimes I just have to say something. I'm pretty middle of the road with most things, and I like to think I'm pretty tolerant. This forum is so far right that there really isn't any point in trying to debate. I'm just glad that it isn't a real barometer of how the country feels. I still love you though man! :-)

Hey Strat, it's good to see you back down here. I've noticed that you've stayed away, and I don't blame you. Things can get really stupid down here. I always find it funny that people are so ready to blame Obama (he is indeed far from perfect) for all the ills of this country while placing no blame on Bush. Everyone knows it takes many days to build a home that you can demolish in a day. The economy, and anything complex to build, is similar in that aspect. It takes time to build and no time to destroy, and people expect Obama to have fixed in 3 years what Bush destroyed in 8 years. Ridiculous. Realistically, it should take 10 - 20 years to fix all the damage done and it still may very well. It would help if the GOP stopped obstructing every bloody thing that Independents and Democrats are trying to do to create jobs and jump start the economy. Even lifelong political observers and honest Republicans admit that these current crop of "Republicans are the problem." And they are. Jeb Bush has criticized the current GOP, and deservedly so.

In the long run, people here (and in general) allow their ideology to shape their perspective of reality, rather than the other way around.  When we are given information and accept it without hesitation as being true, it is easy to validate your belief system, Obama is bad, just look at the economy!!  Then compare the economy of today with an arbitrary prosperous time with no frame of reference.

This is really no different than how Arod was/is treated as a Yankee, for years no matter what the guy did many fans hated him (some still do) even with 2 MVP awards.  Is it rational?  No, but you can't change how people think when they have already made up their minds.

I don't consider the top line "far right." I tried, off the top of my head, to list regular and semi-regular posters. I may have forgotten some, but I can't be that far off. In my mind, this board's always had a fairly even split. At times one side gets louder than the other, but that all evens out in the end.

There are about 13 liberals posters and 7 consevatives posters.  Conservatives and are out numbered almost 2 to 1, yet one of the liberals says there "really isn't any point in trying to debate".  That seems right to me.

One side is always more reasoned and intelligent than the other: my side.

You are always welcome to join it; it's where you belong, really.
