His batting average is going down faster than the stock market, he needs a day or two off.

He is on a 8 for 41 slide and a .195 avg. and  2 for 25 in the last 5 games and .125 avg.

Jeter has:

3 extra base hits in his last 30 games

3 extra base hits in his last 125 AB OR 1 every 41.7 AB

he went 15 gms recently without an RBI

All of the Jeter lovers who lambasted the people who simply said, "hey, Derek is getting old" {he is getting old............we all are} aren't quite so boisterous now. The first 15 games of a 162 game season don't make up the season.

Of course all of this is ten times better than Rodriguez who is making a staggering $30 million per year and has {I believe} 23 RBI's batting clean up for a potent Yankee team and has what? 6-7 yrs left on his contract? OUCH!!

It was bound to happen. He was on a tear and helped carry this offense for a while. There was no way anyone could maintain that pace the whole season. With ARod getting so much DH time, he hasn't really been able to rest enough given his age imho.

Did you expect Jeter to hit .380 all year? Some people thought he was going downhill last year and he ended up at .297. It's called a slump. It happens. He's hitting .314 today. He's a career .313 hitter. If he ends up .290 for the year it's a very good year.

Arod you have a point and if in a few years if he's totally shot I don't see him retiring gracefully.

I'm not so worried about A-Rod retiring gracefully as I would worry that the Yankees keep him around too long no matter what the contract reads.. After all I'm sure if you or I could make $27-$30 M and year we wouldn't turn it down either.. The thing, I feel the Yankees are just going to have to cut bait with A-Rod and eat a lot of money some day.. It's not going to be easy, but it's the only thing they can do for the good of the team.. Maybe a little money under the table and A-Rod will retire gracefully ?? (Wishful thinking I'm sure) Maybe what someone doesn't know won't hurt ???

Yankees aren't going to be able to unload the A-Rod contract ... after the steroid information came out, I think that pretty much sealed the deal for the Yankees being stuck with him until the end ... no one wants an expensive head case.

I totally agree Mo.. I say he is going to become a burden on the team when it comes to the 25 man roster, in doing so, they might just have to DFA him or try to talk him into an early retirement, in doing so they are going to have to eat a lot of money and that money will always go against their luxury tax cap so to speak.. In saying that it might be a little deal where under the table money might get A-Rod to retire gracefully ?? Again this might not be all legal and sort, but I'm sure not everything that happens behind the scenes in this game is all legit ??
