Didn't Larry Byrd retire from Boston long ago?

Boston obtained Byrd because of all the injuries in the OF. Some of those guys are coming back now and there wasn't any need for Byrd. Plus they had to make room for Dice-K. I did read that he was hitting good, but he had no power, and his defense was bad. He sounds like a singles hitter who has no speed who can't field very well. I guess I would pass except he would be really cheap (under $300K) to at least see what he has.

If he can't play defense there's no need for him.  They've got singles-doubles hitters at AAA who can play defense.
