No, not even close, especially considering A-Rod played SS for many years.

He'll play more games at 3rd base than any other position. He's a 3rd baseman. And the best at his position.

Two names refute that Iron.....Brooks Robinson, Greg Nettles.

You can add Mike Schmidt to your list, Craner.

Wonderful post Carp. I dont get into any of these records like I used to. The steroids ruined it for me, so not meaning to be a neggy nellie about this , imo Lou is still on top, just as Ruth's 714 and Aaron's 755, Maris' 61 are still the big numbers.

I hope ARod passes Bonds and gets the all time record for RBI, too.  I hope Jeter passes Pete Rose.  It's better to have these records held by Yankees than by some strangers!

Heh, you're not much of a baseball historian are you? Smile Brooks Robinson... Mike Schmidt... George Brett... Yes, A-rod, with the help of steroids, has the most home runs of all 3Bs in MLB history if that's what you're talking about. But even then he hit half of those while playing as a SS.

I'm more of a baseball historian than you. In fact, I'm more of a historian than you. So if that's the best you have, don't even bother.

Arod is a better player than any of the guys you have mentioned. His 2007 season was the best ever for a 3rd baseman. He will play more games at 3rd base than any other position. He'll go into the HOF as a 3rd baseman for the NY Yankees. He's a 3rd baseman and the best one.

Michael Jack Schmidt is a Hall of Fame third baseman, widely considered as the greatest at the position in the history of Major League Baseball. He played his entire career for the Philadelphia Phillies. Wikipedia

They'll be saying Arod after he retires. It's just their desire to consider Arod a SS because they hate the Yankees.

I respect your opinion, IH, but I doubt it.

Personally, I think he's the greatest Third Baseman and the greatest Shortstop.  Maybe not the most pleasant personality; but, as he gets older, as most of us do, he continues to mellow.

Anyway, why argue it?  Everybody knows we have the greatest Shortstop; we just don't all agree on which one it is.

That's a nice problem to have, fellers!

Sadly there is a very good chance that Arod does not make the HoF because of his steroid admission and also that his accomplishments are forever questioned.

HR record.....I could care less. Means crap to me. Aaron is the leader. Now the hit record is another story. GO Jeter!
