Ive avaoided posting in this thread b/c Id be repeating whatI said in another(s). When ALL, the names are public, that the govt has of players that used PEds, then I'm more than happy to see the chips fall where they may about HOF votes, records etc. When they strip Barry Bonds of his record, and the opthers who've "broken" the most sacred records we as fans cherish, then I'll also personally point the finger at players who've broken the rules. Rogers and Baes and Henrys records stood for decades even WITH the "better players" thats been mentioned here. If Bonds record can stand, knowing what we know, then Id just as soon see a Yankee, even if its A-Rod, sit atop the baseball record book. Yep, I'm a homer and not a shame to admit it. I'm not a guy who has a temendous 'like" for A-Rod but, i root like an SOB for him every at bat b/c I want to see us win.

The players of Babe Ruth's era did not play with/against Negro league players.  Does that mean that Babe's stats should be thrown out? Or should the stats from Negro League be lumped in with those stats?  Like nw wrote, take the stats for what you will.  Steroid use has tarnished the game in many ways, including stats.

In the future if HGH is developed as a safe means of accelerating/promoting the healing process,  I see nothing wrong with utilizing what modern medical develops.  I view it in the same way as antibiotics/antiviral drugs in regards to speeding uo the process of fighting off infections.   As advancement in medicine occurs, are we going to abstain from utilizing current develepment to promote healing?  Lets not turn back the clock as many view this as a negative.

If modern medical develop these interventions 60 years ago...you can bet many players of yesteryear would consider it's usage.  What goes inside the locker room was not as open as now.  With internet and expediences in spreading news nothing is hidden to be disseminated.  Those players of yesteryear also had their"steroid"

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.

All of the known steroid users that had HOF stats will eventually get into the Hall of Fame. Pretty much as simple as that. I'm past my own personal outrage over it

I could really care less if ARod gets the record, means squat to me. You?

Aaron, Maris still the HR champs in my mind.

These false milestones  are just an excuse to sell another item at Steiner sports to mongoloid fans who will buy dirt for 200 bucks.

players from that era was playing just as dirty, you just didn't hear about it because of the 24/7 sports networks and the internet (same can be said for news and political discussion.) Steroids were around in the 50's and 60's and don't forget they were also poppin amphetamines or "greenies."

People have been getting high and self-medicating in one form or another since man learned how to heat his cave with fire. While it's comforting to envision our favorite sports players as heroes it turns out they are just as screwed up as the rest of us albeit with far superior hand-eye coordination. Maybe more so because of the intense spotlight thay dance under and the pressure of constantly winning.

Bennies (amphetimines) have been around since the days of the Bambino. Kenny Stabler wrote how there were mayonaise jars full of uppers and downers freely available in the lockeroom. Hollywood Henderson was tooting up on the field. Dock Ellis hurled a no-hitter while taking a journey on LSD. Spaceman Lee, David Wells, Rodriguez, Lyle Alzado the list goes on and will continue to go on.

Lauren brings up a valid point. Why shouldn't players benefit from advances in medical technology? I could ingest a basketfull of Roids, HGH and 'shrooms and still couldn't swing a bat as gracefully as Cano.

Life is what it is and people are who they are. Just enjoy the game.

I won't buy dirt unless it's signed and authenticated.  :)

One of the most important reasons I wanted A-Rod re-signed was because I wanted that baseball record in pinstripes and "CLEAN" ... now I'm just as happy that he most likely won't make it ... because it would sicken me to see that record in pinstripes and "DIRTY".

I still like A-Rod enough to root for him and hope he does well when he plays for us ... but the record means absolutely nothing to me, and it would actually bother me if he attained it.

I understand where your coming from Mo, but I would be very happy to see A-Rod break as many records as he can.. This steroid thing is blown way out of proportion in my books.. If we only knew who was honest and who did cheat it would shock us..  There was no rule against it at the time, I'm not saying it's right, but what I'm saying is there are a lot of dirty fingers that will never be known and from the time they changed the rule it's water under the bridge in my books..

Any time there's extra money involved and there was a way to improve one's self you know they were going to use it.. Some for helping with injuries some to make them bigger, stronger and faster, but for what ever reason it's done and I really don't hold it against anyone more then the next guy... It's done, it's over with, players have numbers that might or might not have been better for using the stuff, but it was out there and more used in then we would even guess to... I'm even betting there were players that we just knew wouldn't use the juice that did, maybe not a lot, but just for the help of a certain thing they wanted to improve on..  Trust no one, it's too bad that list of names was put out there and only a hand full got exposed...
