In thinking back over last night's loss..

...Yanks were actually quite lucky to be ahead at all, entering the 9th.

The White Sox were killing Nova all night long, 4 or 5 shots to deep center, where Granderson had to turn and go back and get the ball, multiple line drives caught, including the big double play liner to Cano that got Nova out of the jam in the 4th, and 1 or 2 hard hit grounders right at people.

Not to mention the Yanks customary struggles with RISP.

It's still a brutal loss, but they probably should've been down about 6-3 before the 9th. Added to the fact that the entire AL East lost last night, and I'm a little less down about it.

I'm more down about blowing the game with Warren due to go tonight.

Why worry about Warren going tonight?  It's unknown territory, yeah, but...  Maybe other teams struggle with pitchers they've never seen too

All true, so it would have been golden to sneak away with another win - just like they did the day before when Soriano really was struggling in the 9th and they just managed to barely squeak by (very fortunate to have Cabrera fly to left like that).  What's frustrating is blowing a two run lead in the 9th and getting Pierzynski to hit that perfect DP comebacker to the mound and throwing the ball into centerfield.  A catcher was running, so Rapada had time to set himself before throwing it to 2nd base.  Heck, even if Rios is safe at second, they still get Pierzynski at first - and you've got one out, a two run lead, and a meaningless run on 2nd base....

What I'm most worried about is the carry over effect losses like these have.  A loss like last night usually lingers - and leads to two or three losses.  I think back to the sweep at Fenway in April of 2009, when Rivera blew a 2-run lead with 2 out in the 9th on the Friday (Jason Bay HR), and the Yanks lost the next two pathetically.  If they had simply lost a clean 6-3 type game last night, as you suggest, I doubt there's any carry over or lingering feelings of frustration.'

Good thing that the Red Sox, Rays (I'm going to stop even worrying about that pathetic team), and O's lost.  By the way, I think the Angels are the biggest threat to the Yanks in the AL and are really morphing into a juggenaut.  Other than bullpen depth, and offense at catcher, they have no weaknesses.

It happens, Warren is the least of the Yanks worries. I think the fact that Rapada was in a tight situation in that 9th inning probably got him nervous. The Yanks just can't have that type of loss linger and have it carry over for too many games.

Hopefully they just move on from it.  Good teams usually do.

That's a cliche.  The 2009 Yanks were a pretty good team, and they let losses like last night linger into a multi-game losing streak on several occasions.  Last night's loss will linger for a few days - even with a good team.

Very Good point, too bad that some Yankee fans never do all season long.

Actually the first 2 runs the Yanks got were a gift from the White Sox centerfielder dropping a ball.

It wasn't an easy play but it looked like he should have caught it.

What I'm saying is that even good teams let losses like last night's linger.  Even if these Yanks let last night's loss linger for two or three games (which I would expect), it doesn't mean that they're not a good team, and it doesn't mean that they won't win the World Series.
