Why worry about Warren going tonight? It's unknown territory, yeah, but... Maybe other teams struggle with pitchers they've never seen too

Good point!

That's a cliche.  The 2009 Yanks were a pretty good team, and they let losses like last night linger into a multi-game losing streak on several occasions.  Last night's loss will linger for a few days - even with a good team.

Huh??? Didn' they win the World Series or was I dreaming?

I think the Phillies may have gotten a hit so, whats to celebrate?

As always, you totally missed my point.  It's not worth the effort.  Some posters are just not that smart.  They don't have the capacity to understand anything at a subtle or nuanced level.

What I'm saying is that even good teams let losses like last night's linger.  Even if these Yanks let last night's loss linger for two or three games (which I would expect), it doesn't mean that they're not a good team, and it doesn't mean that they won't win the World Series.

I understand, I was just commenting on you calling them a "pretty good team". IMO they were more than that.

Gotcha.  I could make an argument that the 2009 Yanks were one of the greatest teams of all time!  They won 103 regular season games.  They won the toughest division in the toughest league.  They dominated in the postseason.  And they beat a very good, defending champion Phillies team in the World Series.  It was really a perfect season!

Yet, there were moments......like after the Red Sox swept them early....that we wondered.  Every season has it's ups and downs....and last night (and maybe tonight ans Sat. too if the loss lingers) was one of the downs.  I will just say that I'll be very impressed if these Yanks can simply put yesterday's game behind them and win tonight.

Qwik this was the worst Sour Grapes thread starter ever.  You lost me at "The White Sox were killing Nova all night". Please.

He is right in a way. We had a lot of breaks go our way until the 9th.

...Yanks were actually quite lucky to be ahead at all, entering the 9th.

The White Sox were killing Nova all night long, 4 or 5 shots to deep center, where Granderson had to turn and go back and get the ball, multiple line drives caught, including the big double play liner to Cano that got Nova out of the jam in the 4th, and 1 or 2 hard hit grounders right at people.

Not to mention the Yanks customary struggles with RISP.

It's still a brutal loss, but they probably should've been down about 6-3 before the 9th. Added to the fact that the entire AL East lost last night, and I'm a little less down about it.

I'm more down about blowing the game with Warren due to go tonight.

Agreed Qwik....& the more that I think about it, the Yankees stole a game from the Braves 2 weeks ago that they looked like they were going to lose till Arod slammed that grandslam. The White sox stole last night's game & so I guess these types of games even out. You win some & you lose some.  Hopefully tonight Warren isn't too nervous & gives the Yankees a chance to win. I will be at tonight's game & Saturday's game & hopefully I'll be in for a treat both games.  All the games that I've been to this year were all Yankee wins.  I'm looking to continue the trend.

Let's just hope that it doesn't get so bad that our pitching staff has to drown themselves in beer and fried chicken!!
