Playing for the deciding game of the WS is just plain wrong. Jose Baustista, for example, is not going to risk an injury making a catch so the Yankees get home field advantage.
It hould be fun, simply an exhibition game, a chance for the players to socialize, spend time with their families and unwind for a few days before getting back to business. Why attach any significance to it?
Just like Pete Rose making that bone-headed play on Fosse that, essentially, ended his career. I know, "Charlie Hustle" and all that, but for an ASG, he should have just turned it off and had fun. Then again, Rose was never known for his acumen in anything outside of baseball, either.
Returning to my point....deciding on homefield advantage for a 162 game marathon on the basis of one All-Star Game is patently ridiculous. Another idiotic decision by the used-car salesman-turned commissioner.
I do believe metal bats are on there way out. More leagues, colleges and high schools are getting back to wooden bats or composite bats.
As far as the ASG ! ! ! ! Kansas City fans may now be worse than Boston fans. I can understand if fans were booing him during the HR derby but not during the game. Billy Butler did not belong in the HR Derby and Robinson Cano did not deserve the boo's that he got, especially when being announced in yesterdays lineup.
I also agree that there has to be more than just the All-Star game that desides home field advantage.
