As Knicks added Felton to the roster, Knicks are letting Lin go to the Rockets. Certainily the 3rd year of the given contract worth upward 30MM for the Knicks is a hard pill to swallow. I was so looking forward to Kidd tutoring Lin. Linsanity era is over, time to sell his jersey for 99 cent.
No one can fault Lin for looking out for himself. At the same note, shouldn't there be a little bite of gratitude toward the team who gave you a shot in big leagues. Going back to the Rockets to push for a bigger deal after it was essentially done is something that will cause Knicks to seethe with anger.
You have to give it to Lin, pollyanna he is not. Gratitude or otherwise the bottom line is the dollar.
I am disappointed that Lin chose to sign with the Rockets right away. Shouldn't he have just tried to strike a deal with the Knicks first?
Two scenarios ...
One...All along he wanted out from Knicks. He and his agent negotiated this sheet with the Rockets knowing this would be a hard pill for Knicks to swallow. With a ridiculous 3rd year, Knicks would likely give him want he wanted....so he's Houston bound.
Two... Dumb negotiations from the Knicks to show their hand in saying I'll match what ever others offered. This allowed Lin/agent to revamp original sheet to up the ante. Lin over played his hand as greed was in play. Knicks was not going to match this overblown deal.
