08:17 AM ET 07.20 | Melky Cabrera didn't make many new friends this week at his former baseball home of Turner Field. By Thursday's series-finale, the outfielder was resoundingly booed every time he came to the plate or made a play in the field. He made rude gesture to fans in the left-field bleachers Tuesday. His slow home-run trot, excessive celebration of Gregor Blanco's 11th inning home run and apparent suggestion that Jason Heyward try to advance to third base on a flyout drew ire Wednesday. It continued Thursday, when he made a chopping gesture after an eighth-inning triple and the Giants losing 3-1. "That's Melky, and that's why he's not here anymore," Chipper Jones said after Wednesday's game. ... "It won't be forgotten."

Melky's nasty temperament was always obvious to me, his dimpled smiles directed at his friends to the contrary notwithstanding. I hope we don't entertain trying to get him back.

I'd be shocked if the Yankees tried to get him back.  He's going to get a nice payday after this season and I don't see the Yankees willing to spend the money on him.  I also don't believe they want to reunite him with Cano.

Braves fans get what they deserve. There is no such thing as being too rude to them. They can put their tomahawk chop up their ass along with Chipper, but I doubt that his head would fit.

Maybe Melky is getting too full of himself and that does not bode well for him. Stein wanted to separate Cano and Melky because he thought they partied too much, or maybe because Melky was a bad influence on Robinson Cano.  I guess we have benefitted from Cano and Melky has benefitted playing for other teams.

There's still a chance that Melky is playing over his head. Let's see what he does after he signs a new contract. It also seems like he's getting a little too big for his britches. That stuff he pulled in Atlanta is bush league. Cashman shouldn't bring him back. I also would be surprised after he signs his new deal that he shows up at spring training overweight.

Chas can you please move this thread to the thrice removed Yankees and how they're behaving in an irrelevant division within an irrelevant league?

Why would Melky care about making new friends in Atlanta?

By Thursday's series-finale, the outfielder was resoundingly booed every time he came to the plate or made a play in the field.

Big woop...

He made rude gesture to fans in the left-field bleachers Tuesday.

I'm sure those drunks deserved it.

His slow home-run trot, excessive celebration of Gregor Blanco's 11th inning home run

He's supposed to be subdued after a teammate hits an 11th inning homer?

In the non-ending Melky vs Gardner (OW!! My elbow hurts!) discussion, of which you and your fellow Gardner (OW!! My elbow hurts!) lovers came out on the wrong end of who had more talent, all I can tell you is it must be a bitter pill to swallow to see Melky bat .353, lead the majors in hits, start the All-Star game and win MVP. So bitter that you resort to petty articles about who-cares what Atlanta thinks.

Melky has EONS more talent than Gardner. (OW!! My elbow hurts!)

Get back to me when your sissy makes the All Star team.

Melky had every right to give back to the fans after how they responded to him.   They started the booing.   I agree the Braves fans are terrible.  Just like the KC fans treated Cano.    The only problem is that Cano let  it effect his game and Melky did not.   Good for Melky.
