Ichiro is 8 months younger than Jeter, has a grand total, Japan and US baseball combined, of 3,867 hits, has a lifetime MLB slugging pct of .417 (not too shabby for a slap hitter) and is 5'11" and 170 pounds.
The Yankees would be nuts, that's N-U-T-S, to let this guy get away. What did Rose do after he was 38 and how fat and slow was he for that 7 years? What is Ichiro likely to do in comparison? A lot.
They should sign this guy for $10 million a year (or more, if it takes it) for a minimum of two or three seasons with options! Look at him: he's auditioning for the Yankees next year and he's hitting like a house on fire!
He could well be the difference between World Series and Sayonara post season for the Yanks.
I can't figure out why we let the stinkin' Mariners get him in the first place.
