Yanks before Arod = 6 pennants in 8 years Yanks with Arod = 1 pennant in 9 years COINCIDENCE!??!!
Of course it's a coincidence. Unless you believe one person can lose a playoff series all by himself. Of course, the fact that nobody but Jeter and sometimes Posada hit in those series' and our pitching wasn't great at times didn't have anything to do with it.
Our losses from 2000-2009 were based more on a poor hitting philosophy that plagues us to this day. The Yankee dynasty team was built on OBP, hitting, making things happen. From 2001 on, this team has been about left handed power, and Arod. Cashman even said it after the playoffs. And he has no intention of changing it. The front office wants home runs. They could care less about batting average, OBP, stolen bases, anything resembling a balanced team. And until that philosophy changes, we can expect more of the same in the postseason. Even great hitters get shut down by good pitching. Look at Detroit. Prime example.
