I read the title of this as:  Soria's Agent:  "Of course we want the Yankees in the bidding war to drive his price up."

If Soria turn down a 8 M deal, he's not going to sign a contract for anything less than 8M for our Yankees.  In other words, he's not coming for cheap.   Obviously for 8-10M dollars he rather be a setup guy for Mo that playing for a non-contending team.  Flattering as it might be, in the end it's all comes down to $$$$$$.

Look for Tigers to chase Soriano....

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.

Both are coming back from major surgery, that is not a good idea.

I'll believe it when I see it but if Soria is serious about setting up for Rivera, that'll go a long way in him bouncing back and accepting his role. Who knows, have a potential shot at being the next Yankee closer.

yes there is question about soria's elbow but tell me how is the closer wants Mariano retires? Please convince me how robertson did as a closer last year. even though i love robertson to death. Can joba do the job i dont know. A lot of question marks, but if you get soria he is the guy who will be heir to rivera.

I think they have a couple of options to go to after this season if Mo calls it quits.. Aardsma (sp), Montgomery and maybe someone different by then.. I just don't know if Robertson is the kind of guy to be a closer ?? He has good enough stuff, he just throws way too many pitches.. Maybe Joba will turn the corner next season, but for some reason I don't have a lot of faith in him..

I don't know why you are questioning Robertson since I never mentioned him. I just read about his agent saying that Soria wouldn't mind setting up for Rivera but then again, agents normally do that to drive their clients price up. That's what I'm most skeptical about. Of course if the Yanks can get him, great but my guess is that he lands somewhere else with a closers role.

A good agent will use all his tricks and this might just be one of those ?? Who knows what all goes on behind closed doors ??

I've heard it all from Agents from players loving where they play to trying to beat around the bush and say "so and so place would be a nice fit for my client". I just remain skeptical until he's signed because I strongly feel the agents first objective is to use the Yankees as leverage. Not that it's a bad strategy but I'm just not going to get all worked up over it until pen meets paper or a deal gets close. We all saw how the Cliff Lee negoitations went. It's never a done deal until it's announced by the team.
