Catching depth, bullpen arm who was hurt last year, and loogy competition.

Won't make headlines but these moves like Cory Wade (sans his collapse) or Clay Rapada can pay dividends.

Spence held lefty hitters to a .158/.247/.237 batting line as a big leaguer.

Sure, and if they stink, they'll be gone after ST.  I'd expect to see a few more too.  Some of which will be for the AAA team.

Depth is always needed each year! We will see more of these claims and minor league deals.

Worked wonders with Rapada and Epply. Joe will certainly put the bullpen to work so the more arms the merrier.

this is the kind of depth we are going to get on Hal's "budget" as long as A-Rods contract is on the books.

The current CBA is real... You can cry about a budget all you want it wont change anything.

This has nothing to do with Hal's budget.  The Yankees and every other team in the sport have been signing guys like this for years.  They give them a ST invite and some will be gone, some may end up with the AAA team, and a couple if they're lucky may make the big club.  This is just the beginning.  They sign a bunch of these guys every year.
