The main reason I voted against Romney and the Republician party

Long rant so here it goes...
Am I thrilled Obama was reelected? Not really,I don't think he was the best choice for the job in 08 or now.
Why did I vote for him and not for any Republician you ask? Several reasons but the key one for me is my brother Tim.
Tim is one of the funniest, helpful and caring persons you'll meet. Whenever I need his help or advice on anything,he was there for me. When I had rough patches in high school or college,he would be there to help me pick up the pieces. Plus he is a huge Yankee fan rain or shine.
He also happens to be gay, which to the Republician party as it stands right now means he is a person that deserves to burn in Hades for all eternity.
The current GOP platform is to make people like my brother second class citizens for life.
Those who think it's just a "social" issue haven't had to listen to your brother be compared to a pedophile, terrorist, animal etc.
They haven't had to take the call from your brother's husband begging you to come to the hospital because the documents they spent thousands of dollars on aren't being honored by said hospital and aren't required to in the state they were in.
In addition, you haven't had to see people who have no clue about seperation of church and state think they have a right to put their religious views about gay marriage into civil law using disguisting lies to do so.
I could go on and on but to do so would make my blood boil. The 2012 Republician platform has among the most anti-gay language I've ever seen after the pledge Mitt Romney signed. Their goal was to undo any and all gains the LGBT community has made in the past 50 years.
It's not the 1950's anymore and this country is not a theocracy where a group of people's take on the Bible is law for everyone else.
Once the Republician party realizes that and gets rid of the Religious Right,I might vote for them again.
Until then,I cannot and will not support a party that runs on making my brother a second class citizen a part of their platform.
I've seen my brother and his husband suffer too much injustice as it is to vote for a man and party that would make it worse.

The old guard created their own problem in the Republican party to win the evangelical vote and split people on social issues. This was the only issue they had, since they were no longer fiscal conservative. The main difference between the two parties is merely social platforms. It ain't working well anymore, and until they realize that and oust those old guard members (Newt, Rove) they will continue to fail.

Each generation grows a little more progressive in nature, and the old standards fall off. It's called change, and change don't like holding on to the past.

I don't see how the GOP can change without becoming Democrats. For that reason I don't see the GOP changing. What they will try to do is change the way American's think.

Thanks for the rant!!  Your brother is a lucky man to have you as his brother.  My own brother said all the same issues that are issues every, education, economy, communists,  terrorist are all more important, all the same issues that have been around at least since I have been voting.  He does not believe that hospitals call "the next of kin" when the spouse is standing right there, no that doesn't happen in his world.  But he has not gotten that call yet.  He does not believe people like Mitt really mean it when they say they are going to amend the constitution and post it on their website.  He does not believe it when RNC releases the party platform document that says as much.

He says he supports my partner and I.  He just doesn't believe there is an equality problem.  Your brother is a lucky man indeed.

Live and let live. Simple words that the Evangelicals refuse to pronounce.

The Tea Party thing is what's ruining the Republican party as we once knew it..  Along with people like Rove, Limbaugh, Trump, Fox News people, etc. I could go on forever.. When the Republican party stops thinking of only the rich and try to do things for the middle class again it will slowly be the part that is lost in time... The rich in this country are trying to control all of the country, the biggest problem the gap between the rich and the middle class is getting bigger every year, so how does the Republican party think they are going to make any head way and get anyone elected to the WH ??

I had to say this but the rich are the ones that are ruining this great country.. It's let see how rich we can be and let the little guy die.. It already shows by how much money is going over seas.. Can't anyone see that ?? It's time to take off the blinders.. It's a shame a democracy has to be controlled by money and not real people..
