How could Cashman let this happen.... we're screwed. Our seasons ovah!

Cashman upping the ante to spend more would only add more cash to Marlins' pocket with revenue sharing.  Do many realize after this trade Marlins' payroll is 25MM and revenue sharing give 30MM to Marlins....Loria can essentially run his club without reaching into his pocket at Yankees' expense.  If anything this would embolden Yankees to get under the cap.

Makes good business sense. But will this savings go back to the team or into the family pocket?

Good news, Torii will be 39 at the end of this contract, and that's right at the age Cashman likes 'em!

I doubt the Steinbrenner boys are going to be cheap.  I think they realize their plan on spending as much as they can isn't going to work.  I think they know in that there will be a couple long seasons ahead of us but in the long term we will have our prospects developing and it will make for an exciting team down the road if they pan out.  Can't simply "buy" championships anymore, the Marlins FO learned that last year.

George made financial decisions with one family in mind, one family garnering the profits, with him in total contrlo.  There are several kids now, with seveal families sharing the profits.  So the decisions to spend are magnified.  This isn't a good scenario for Yankee fans.
