I think the Yanks sole intent was to sign their own FA to 1 year deals and fill in with stop gaps at catcher, rf, bench nd utility infirlder. I don't see them making any significant deals. Very much hope I'm wrong but I think next years team will be an older less exciting version of last years team. We are counting on big time production from an older Mo, Jeter and Pettitte all coming off a major injury. We are likely hoping Ichiro comes back and his 67 game productivity was not a mirage and we are counting on a bounce back year from a middle of the order guy in Arod. We are hoping Kuroda can repeat a career year and CC can continue to be the horse he has always been and even he is coming off elbow surgery. What are the chances of all of that happening? Let any of the kids that are even close to playing in the bigs play, try and move Granderson and Cano, check the market for Teix and try and get back young major league top of the line prospects. Let's start the rebuild a year early instead of a year late. By the way, I don't think this will happen because we wouldn't have resigned the old guys unless they believe it will sell seats.

One year deals?  WFAN this morning are yapping in speculating Yankees are going to sign Josh Hamilton to a mega one year deal.

That one year deal actually crossed my mind too.  Then he could hit free agency again next offseason. Not very likely though.  Some speculation that Boston may make a play for him.

Talk about false info...where did Andrew Marchand of ESPN get information about Martin seeking a 4 year deal when what he signed was far from it. Martin blew it big  time for turning down a 3 year deal offered last season.

From what's reported...Yankees didn't even make an offer. If any offer was coming, speculation points to a deal worth 12-14M/2years.  I hope Cashman has something up his sleeve in regards to trading for a catcher.  What's available are not good options.  Perhaps Yankees are reserving that savings for another player to address their needs.

I was leery of Marchand's report.  He's the only source I saw even mention 4 years.  I don't usually pay a lot of attention to those ESPN guys.

Does anyone???

From what's reported Rangers will only sign either Greinke or Hamilton, not both.  Presently, Rangers are in hot pursue of Greinke.  If rangers ink a deal with Greinke...Hamilton will be out there for the taking.

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.
