I was never a Youkilis fan, and he was one of my most hated Red Flops......and one of the main reasons I hated him, was because he was a Yankee killer upon a few occasions , and though it seemed to me he had a chip on his shoulder....... now that he is on our side, I want him to succeed, and bring to the plate what I truly feel he is capapble of.......yeah he may miss 20 games or so, maybe not, but his voracity at the plate will be welcomed, and no one will ever accuse Youk of not bringing his best to the game when he stepped between the lines, ....he comes to play, and lord knows, many a player have had banner years once they put the pinstripes on, and careers have been revived......like I said, couldn't stand the guy, hated looking at him.....(still hate looking at him).......but all I can say is I think it was a great sign for Mr. Cashman, and to get a player of his caliber on a 1-year deal, even for the 12 mil, I like the possibilities........   lets see what he can do......

As far as the catching situation, though we will losing more power at the plate, I think Cervilli and the backup will do fine.....if there is a decent deal out there, for a good starting catcher, the deal will be made.......still looking at Upton finding his way to the Bronx.....either a straight up deal, or a multi-team trade scenario......time will tell, but still looking for JU to come this way. Yeah we also need a good right-handed DH too, but I feel there are still enough DH's out there to satisfy team needs for 2013........Maybe I am giving more credit than credit is due, when it comes to the moves made thus far by management, and deals still to be made, but I am quite confident we will field a team that can still win the East........we may lack power, but we should have the ability to produce runs more than we have for the past 5 years.....time will tell, but I like the speed and the lineup (on paper) still should be able to produce........I say this every year, but it is time for Teixeira, and Granderson and a few other ballplayers to bring to the plate what they are supposed to bring to the plate........Lets see how this plays out......less than (3) weeks pitchers and catchers report..........(JUp)......

my apologies......I got off the Chipper subject line........as far as Chipper goes, I would welcome him as the team DH, and backup ar 3rd, but I don't see that happening......but on a 1-year deal, with the ability to fill in at 3rd or take a day off here and there, you never know.......not sure his name has even been brought up by teams that would try to lure him out of retirement.......for the proverbial " 1-YEAR  FIX "......something to be considered.......if the Yankees don't try to talk to Cano soon, look for him to be dealt at some point, for prospects, and a tier 1 player, (pitcher/hitter)......possibly the Grandy man may be on his way elsewhere.....love his homerun ability, but he is a crappy hitter, and killed more than his share of rallies last year........I don't see Cano or Granderson here in 2014, but if I had to pick between the pair, I'd have to opt for Cano, but must be honest and say, with the type of money he and Scotty will be demanding, pretty much puts him elsewhere......Yanks will miss him, but they will be fine......looking for something to happen by end of the week.......stay tuned

I read that a couple of teams have talked to Chipper. In another month the guy will be going crazy sitting around the house. I think he is divorced now so no reason to be at home. You can tweet him ..@RealCJ10...try to talk him into joining the yanks...lol.

If the Yanks are going to be dead in the water for a few years they might as well go all the way and trade Cano for some prospects. Right now it doesn't look good for 2014. They stand to lose a lot of pieces next year.

Sure, if he ever decided to come back, Chipper Jones would be a welcome sight and I'm sure he'd accept being a DH and fill in at 3B when Youkilis needs to rest or if he gets injured. In a way it's sad we are discussing someone who is retired. I know how good of a hitter he is but still.

It is a bit sad that a retired player might be better than anything currently available. But, then, look at Andy. The Yanks had to coax him back as well. Maybe Bernie can still hit. He never officially retired..LOL.

That's true, Yanks are crossing their fingers, toes and wallets that Pettitte can keep this up until he offically retires from Baseball and calls it a career. Williams probably would still give you a better AB than that rally killer Andruw Jones did!
