It's not famous last words, it's a fact, it's conjecture NOTHING has been proven. Eventually the dirt was PROVEN on all the above you mentioned. Most likely it will also with A Rod and others. Until then I stand by innocent until PROVEN guilty.

Indeed it's just allegations as MLB needs to complete their investigation to players' relationship to Bosch.  With A-Rod's past history, it doesn't look favorable. The guy is certainly not liked by many......On a very slimmmmmmmmmmmmm outside sliver of a chance A-Rod is found not guilty, will anyone here feel bad slamming him???? SealedSurprisedLaughing

I would be thrilled if they found A-Rod not guilty ... but I highly doubt that is going to happen.

As far as feeling guilty for having slammed him ... I don't think anyone need feel guilty ... A-Rod's past history caused people to rush to judgment in this matter ... his past history is his own fault, it is not the fault of anyone else.

Sorry, Mo but A Rod's past, his ego, whether you like him for his on and off field antics is no cause for a rush to judgement in this particular case. This isn't Russia, a person is innocent until proven guilty in this country and you can't justify a rush to judgement because he's an A hole.

Think whatever you want ... my opinion is that A-Rod's past had the most to do with people rushing to judge him ... if his past had been better, he would not be getting persecuted to the extent he is ... you can keep waving the innocent until proven guilty flag ... but there are people who by their own actions make it very difficult for others to not judge more quickly.

Thinking whatever I want has nothing to do with it, Mo, it's a reality. Regardless of his past, his rights as a US citizen is innocent until proven guilty and that's not waving a flag, it's a fact of life. I'd hate to be on trial and have some of my peers on a jury judging me based on something I did in the past. As I said, I'm not defending A Rod, I'm defending his rights as granted by our forefathers.

In more and more cases going to courts, prior acts are being brought up and the Court is being requested to allow them in ... depends on the type of case of course ... however, in a situation where PEDs is an issue, if this were to go to Court, I wouldn't be surprised if the plaintiff tried to get the Court to allow prior acts to be submitted to the Court.

I'm sure it's going to get very messy and dramatic. What a shame our beloved baseball has come to this.Frown

The problem is that they just can't get rid of PEDs ... too much money to be made ... very sad.

So hit them where it hurts.... take away the money if they get caught using banned substances. I don't know why teams can't implement a steroid clause into contracts to deter players from using.

I think 61 had the right answer in another thread ... the teams and MLB really don't want to rid the sport of PEDs ... the testing is just a PR stunt to make Congress happy.

This is 61n61's response from another thread, and I agree with it:

Why would it be a surprise that team officials suggested using PED's?

My belief is that team owners and officials are all in this along with the players. That's why MLB has never taken any drastic measures to eradicate PED use. Random testing is just a PR stunt.

The teams can't put a steroid clause into the contracts becuase the CBA says they can't. The owners agreed to it. That's why I believe that the owners and team officials are probably privately ecouraging players to take PED's.

Yes, that's what makes all this so ridiculous. Only the Commissoners office can disipline players for PED use under the guidelines written into the CBA. At this point it is a 50 game suspension for the first infraction. You can even serve the suspension while on the DL, which means that the team doesn't suffer. There is nothing an individual team can do about it. PED use falls outside of the morals clause. So, if a player was arrested for using a prostitute he could have his contract voided by the team. If he is caught using PED's he gets a 50 game suspension.

The Yanks voided Aaron Boone's contract for playing basketball (perfectly legal), which was forbidden in his contract. If he had been caught using steroids  (not legal without a prescription) the Yanks couldn't have done a thing.

This is so interesting ... I wonder how many of us didn't know about this until now ... I know I wasn't aware of it ... I always wondered why the teams never had PED clauses in the contracts ... well now I know ... something smells about this though.
